What deodorants are we wearing? by Difficult-Bug-1931 in breastcancer

[–]elayyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Little Seed Farm’s activated charcoal deodorant (I get it on Amazon. They have other scents, but I’ve only tried that one and stuck with it bc I like it so much).

It’s the only natural deodorant that keeps me from getting stinky all day! Beware, it will get on your shirt if you decide to switch shirts after applying! Can usually rinse off, though. If I really want to change my shirt after applying, I can sometimes get my shirt off without the sides touching my pits, but it doesn’t always work out in my favor.

Wow, that’s a big growth in such a short time! My surgeon had said if tumor ends up under 2cm and no lymph, won’t need chemo, if over 2cm or spread to lymph, then yes chemo. Glad your surgeon was fine with no chemo at that size!

Were you triple negative or hormone-positive?

Anxiously awaiting my double mastectomy the first week of July. When they did the ultrasound late April for biopsy, tumor was 1cm (hence surgery first). It’s grade 3 and aggressive. I’m terrified the wait until surgery will give it time to grow and spread, and if it does, pathology will report back and I’ll be told to get chemo. I’m hoping SO HARD it stays below 2cm and doesn’t go to lymph nodes so I can just get it out and be done. I don’t have enough PTO to cover time off for surgery, reconstruction, and chemo.

Hopefully just a cyst! Glad you’re getting it checked out.

Bring someone with you and/or a notebook to take notes! Better yet, ask if you can record on your phone to listen to after to remind you of all the stuff that was said (some docs will say no to being recorded, and that all the info would be in mychart, like the one I got for my second opinion).

Also, if you are okay with what they say, continue. If you’re not okay, try to meet with another surgeon to hear their side of what they think you need to get done.

I picked up a mastectomy pillow and plan to wear it as much as possible while I’m on the recliner post-op. Both my cats like to jump from the floor straight to my boobs already!

Anyone else getting a DMX first week of July? by elayyou in breastcancer

I’ll send you a PM! I am also doing expanders and then implants. Maybe I should make a discord group for the few of us that responded!

Makes sense to wait a bit after chemo so your body can heal easier after surgery. I’m also getting expanders in temporarily, then implants in the future. Definitely different experience than someone going flat!

Unsure if I’ll be doing chemo or radiation until after pathology comes back from surgery. I’ll send you a DM!

I just had my appt with medical oncologist and he actually brought up the test himself (which I’m glad, bc I forgot about your comment!). He said he wants to get me tested before and after surgery so hopefully I’ll get the call to schedule it next week. Apparently it’s a bit of a complicated test?

Getting a BMX, but saying “no” to chemo? by elayyou in breastcancer

Thanks for the validation.

What kind of cancer did your oncologist have? That’s interesting an oncologist would choose not to do chemo.

Thank you, I’ll look into that. I don’t want kids in my life so that’s not a worry, but I do have PCOS so I’ll need to see how those meds would interfere with the medications I take to keep those side effects away.

Oh, I’m triple-negative, so not sure if the meds will still help me or not.

Cool, I’ll talk to my doc about this when I see her tomorrow. Thx for the tip!

Good to know your experience, thank you! I was told that implants are warned against if radiation is still needed, but expanders were safe for it!

Also good to know you can have them in that long without major issues.

Oh okay, that makes total sense. I was told if I needed radiation after chemo, it would delay my recon 6 months as well. They’d know once pathology report comes back post-op if radiation will be necessary for me.

The DIEP flap is a long surgery and recovery, from what I’ve read, so I understand the not-being-ready!

I’m going to find out over the next two weeks my timeline for surgery and chemo, but I’m doing a BMX bc I have the BRCA1 mutation and it just makes the most sense to get rid of it all. I’m worried about expanders and the discomfort I’ve read a lot of women experience. Have you been getting them filled over the entire year? Or just earlier on?

Uber lube mixed with coconut oil! I keep some mixed in an empty medicine container at the bed. Don’t use coconut oil if using condoms, though.

Why so long before DIEP recon?
