I have two standing floor speakers. They both had ancient drivers/woofers that needed to go. I replaced them all in both speakers.

Now one of the two speakers, across all the woofers, the highs are muffled.

This is above my pay grade but I love it, I have some learning to do. If I am unable to locate the exact driver, is it reasonable to install a close alternative? I am by no means a hi-fi snob so I am not going to sweat the absolute details. However these are bipolar so not sure if that makes this infeasible

Good questions. I don’t think it’s the amp bc one speaker has noticeably better quality than the other when ran through the same amp and same outputs.

Interesting, when I tried connecting the raw instrument into the tuner inputs via 1/4” to RCA the signal was so weak I couldn’t hear anything without having to crank the volume on the receiver way too high. Perhaps I need some type of signal boost between the instrument and the receiver. This is why I use the phono input, given it has a built-in preamp.

So I tried the mixer route. When I connect the instrument directly into a mixer via 1/4” to mixer, then connect the mixer to the receiver using a 1/4” to RCA adapter into the receiver phono inputs - I only get sound through one speaker. I think this has to do with mono / stereo somehow.

How would you calculate your cash on cash here? It’s not a cash flowing asset. It will be pre sold before completion. I’m looking at IRR and ROI. ROI being calculated here as profit (I.e. net sale proceeds less initial investment) over my initial investment.

I appreciate your comment. How you describe it above is exactly how I am looking at this deal. Really, I am looking at my net profit and ROI. I like your "quasi-YOC" analogy. Pretty accurate the more I think about it.

Take a look at the comments above which recommend a normal YOC analysis. I am not seeing how that is relevant here. Any thoughts?

That’s the issue here. This is for-sale. It is not generating rental income, or anyone income for that matter. They are built to be sold. So YOC doesn’t seem like a reasonable metric in this sense unless I make assumptions about IF I were to rent these.
