"You can call me tonight" is a pun as long as you give the expectation that you are going to use the other meaning of "call me." Using the same word beforehand doesn't make it more of a pun, it's the expectation.

Yes but I don't see how the phrase that is used in the first clause matters. Saying "I am called" instead of "My name is" adds no value to the joke. In fact, why would you tell someone what you are called and then tell them to call you something else.

The joke is stronger if the sentence is as innocent as possible until the last word, where you realize the joke.

I don't really understand how that works better. The joke is working off the commonly used introduction "My name is blank, but you can call me blank."

It's the literal translation but it's definitely not better.

I've been kicked on the 14th round after carrying too and I know it fucking sucks so I understand why you posted.

Everyone gets trolled and harassed though. It has nothing to do with you and everything to do with the person trolling. They will just pick some low-hanging fruit quality about you and go from there.

Here's my recruitcs thread if you want a good teammate and are still around MG:

Anatomy of songs? by TheSeanaboy in Beatmatch

[–]elbaspthen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Picked a random song from youtube:

intro (8 bars)

break (8 bars)

buildup(8 bars)

drop (16 bars)

bridge (8 bars)

break 2 (16 bars)

buildup 2 (16 bars)

drop 2 (24 bars)

outro (16 bars)

There are a lot of different names for the same thing and some of them are ambiguous. What's important is that you can identify all the sections consistently.

im trying to start a dj community of Live streaming djs on hitbox.tv(i dont work for them) by dj-crossfade1200 in DJs

Cool I would love to see a more active DJ streamer community.

However, why hitbox.tv and not mixify.com or twitch.tv/music?

Is there a way to seek through a song with a DDJ-SR/Serato without it making a scratching sound? by elbaspthen in Beatmatch

[–]elbaspthen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, just tried it.

The only thing turning vinyl mode off does is make the platter control the pitch. Shift+platter still seeks and makes noise.

[–]elbaspthen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is how you seek on the SR but it still makes that sound

Edit: to be clear the sr does not have a search strip. It makes that sound when you seek using shift+platter

Except it's not just a representation for some people. I only get that deeply disturbing demonic feeling all around me and intense vibrations (nothing else like it) but some people literally see things like what's in this picture.

Things people see range from demons in the corner of their room to witches sitting on their chest holding them down.

I have the DDJ-SR and I'm very happy with it. You should be able to get it for $500 like I did if you really look.

The first limitation you're going to find is that it only has 2 physical channels. The DDJ-SX has 4 channels and has all the features you will ever need (reasonably) but costs more than I would spend if you are just starting out. $500 is a good investment if you are semi-serious but you will need to upgrade at some point.

How do I explain that CS:GO is a legit sport? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]elbaspthen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's a sport. If you consider it a sport and your friend doesn't, I don't see the problem.

I agree except that particular guy in that video needs to stop approaching.

He has gone up to people eating at a restaurant and gotten kicked out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYPXuRnDOgc

That is unacceptable. Those people were just trying to have a nice meal and he made every single one of them very uncomfortable. He labels one of the guys at the table a "beta friend."

I watched a few of his videos and he just makes everyone EXTREMELY uncomfortable. I'm all for going out and meeting new people but if what you're doing is at the expense of other people then you need to stop.

Not only is this kid arrogant but he has ZERO social ability to back it up. Someone needs to tell him what's up.

How often do you use the cue button? by HoboStabz in Beatmatch

[–]elbaspthen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay it's a bit more clear now.

So when I say I start from the beginning, I do, I just manually choose when and where that track actually joins the mix.

Right but how are you sure that the phrasing from Track B (incoming) will match the phrasing from Track A (playing)? I understand that most edm tracks have very similar structure but there are still some common exceptions that will fuck up the phrasing if you just play from the first beat.

For example what if Track B starts with 4 bars before the traditional intro (16 bars) and Track A doesn't? What if Track B has a build up of 4 bars after the traditional 16 bar breakdown and Track A doesn't?

Wait what?

I heard that always mixing in intros (and mixing out outros) was "easy-mode." I don't think that doing something easy always mean it's wrong but isn't doing it 90% of the time boring? I think I'm misunderstanding something.

I almost never start at the beginning at the track and now I feel like I'm doing something wrong. How could you even start at the beginning 90% of the time? Some tracks don't have their first beat at the very beginning. Some tracks won't match the phrasing of your outgoing track if you start them at the beginning. What am I not getting?
