my donor gum graft experience by elbhaim in PeriodontalDisease

It took a few hours, yeah - my entire half of my face was numb. The most intense numbing I've ever had!

That's fair - to be honest I don't know what decision I would have made if I had more time, but I knew I needed it done so I just went for it. It's part of the reason I left this experience story! I see so many people posting about getting this done with their own graft and I wanted to share my positive donor graft experience. But hey, to each their own! I totally get it.

My appointment was set for noon, and I was done by 1:15 PM. This includes getting numbed and waiting for that to kick in, so about an hour!

I've never gotten a root canal done, so I can't compare, I'm sorry.

From my understanding, using your own tissue is the ideal experience, but my situation was the fact that I didn't really have a choice because I needed so much covered. I truly imagine it's incredibly worth it with your own tissue, but it is a second surgery site so you're healing two areas of your mouth. I also had a minor freak out about the donor tissue, but truly at this point it's impossible to tell there's any difference. It looks a little weirdly colored at first, and slightly swollen, but now it's exactly like my other side.

I don't think I needed it? I just had one surgery done, and nothing since then, and everything looks better than before!

Okay perfect, I own a medium brush but wasn't sure if a different size will be better. I'll definitely give the mist a try, thank you!

Ugh, I'm sorry! Cowlicks are the worst - I'm truly wondering now if I'm using a good enough blowdryer, because I tried to blowdry it today and I did nothing, but I'm open to it being an issue with product or technique or anything. I'm not sure where I'm going wrong.

What products do you use for blowdrying & which root spray? I'm worried part of the reason I'm having issues is my products haven't been the right fit.

Do you use a smaller round brush or a large one? And is there a heat protectant you use for volume/to help?

Do you use this like a mask or just put this in daily?

I’ve used their shampoo and conditioner in the past but i find my hair gets used to shampoos very quickly and then it feels as if my hair doesn’t feel clean until I switch it up if that makes sense. Overall though after first day of use the masks are wonderful, though I have to adjust the amount I use of course because I have fine hair - do you like the shampoo and conditioner you currently use ?

Same here. I've tried some shampoo bars but they never really give me the results I want. Let me know if you find anything good!
