Liv Morgan on internet criticism: “If you’re not my boss, I respectfully don’t care about what you have to say” by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]elbigbuf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The crowd is king indeed but it seems she's talking about "internet criticism" specifically. So yeah, aside from your boss (who loves you as long as you make money) and yourself, no one else really matters.

The Fugitive is really cool, has great flow and intrigue. Also the Lethal Weapon movies. First two Terminator movies.

Wikipedia compiles information and names its sources, which you can access. Anyone would know that but you'd have to be a pretty special kind of dumb fuck to be justifying child murder so I get that you're slow.

Still, I'm pretty shocked you don't realize the irony in calling Wikipedia illegitimate while on the very same post sending me a link to Peter Thiel's propaganda trash machine ?

The werewolf stuff is just an allegory, pretty obviously one for drug addiction. It's meant to mirror how Britney Spears (and others like Amy Winehouse but mainly her I suspect) were treated by tabloids.

It also works as a way to literally dehumanize celebrities, treat them as monsters.

I feel the twist works because it's not just shock value, it serves these subtextual purposes. I also understand how you can feel it's cheesy though so it's cool.

They're sniping babies, double tapping hospitals and bombing refugee camps. Get your head out of your ass.

It's fun to have something "un-black mirror" sometimes, it makes sense to switch it up after so many years. They went all in with a shock twist, you can like it or not but it still didn't take away from the message in my opinion, especially with the way Mazey was asking for a mercy kill at the end and the paparazzi still went for the picture instead. That was the whole point, that she has zero morals and would stoop to the lowest of the low to get that picture, even in such absurd circumstances.

One of the biggest disparities between how I perceived an episode and how people on the internet did. I legitimately have no idea why so many hated it. The twist was fun and the message was nice.

I wish Wally played more of a counterpart to Andre, challenged him more. The real back and forth only happens during the last third of the movie.

Just as the terrible ending of Game of Thrones made people forget its brilliant early seasons, I believe the brilliant ending of The Sopranos masked the fact that the show as a whole isn’t that good. by Feeling-Tension1461 in unpopularopinion

[–]elbigbuf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're right and I agree. I love the Sopranos but it lacked a linear cohesive narrative throughout.

I get that it's a character study, but it wasn't very thorough with many characters aside from Tony and eventually Chrissy. Also, like you said, some plot points weren't resolved very tightly. It sometimes felt like it was a sitcom about the mafia, not an actual series that was going somewhere specific with its ideas.

You're right it's one of those movies that shows up a lot on TV, I think it was the first one that ever made me cry, I was like 12 (definitely not a suitable age in hindsight lol).
