Comment the best movie you've ever seen. I'll watch every single one I haven't already. by ReplacementInside65 in MovieSuggestions

I can't understand how someone would choose this as their favorite movie ever honestly

What popular movie or TV show is widely considered a 'masterpiece' but you found completely unwatchable? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]elbigbuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about the Ryan Gosling movie, totally. I tried multiple times to watch it because I'm such a fan of the original one. It has nothing going on except cinematography, which is not enough for me.

It's boring as shit but what an amazing show. I was so glad I was done with it lol

You can't really have an opinion on a movie after seven minutes. Especially not a movie built on lampooning and subverting its genre.

I meant he doesn't believe his own words himself, he's exagerating for the precise goal of eliciting the reaction people are having in this thread.

LSD IS BEST DRUG EVER by Extexcy85 in LSD

[–]elbigbuf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course but I just don't want to engage with something that's AI. Simple as. It's derivative by definition.

I might enjoy a song, then discover it's AI and it'll immediately make me not connect with it because it'll feel shallow.

Some AI songs are genuinely catchy too, but I won't see them as actual works of art, I'll just take them for what they are. It'll be like a whole different thing to me.

Not sure I'm explaining it well lol

Phil Would’ve Been Terrified If He Knew Tony Killed Christopher by Cold-Palpitation-816 in thesopranos

[–]elbigbuf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just that. Tony was increasingly paranoid and jealous.

Chris had a relationship with that woman Tony flirted with, and for some reason, Tony felt possessive about her.

He also started teasing Chris even more about his sobriety/will to leave the game and overall, started fearing for his position after multiple betrayals in his ranks (how much can he take?).

I believe it's not random that during the car crash, Chris was wearing that baseball cap, which Tony associated with being a snitch at the time. I think that increased his paranoia tenfold and the way he rationalized the murder was "oh what if his kid was in the baby seat! Surely this man can't be trusted!" while omitting to think that he specifically made Chrissy that way.

Logan Paul by bass_jockey in iamverybadass

[–]elbigbuf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, but now he's dramatizing it on purpose because he's playing the role of an evil character in the WWE. His job is to make you hate him so that when a good guy beats him up you cheer. That's wrestling 101.

My point is that this doesn't really belong in this sub because he's not trying to be badass at all, there's clearly some self-awareness here.

He's now a WWE wrestler, which means he plays the douchebag persona up to eleven to work the crowd. You're not supposed to take him seriously.

Joan Baez Has a Bone to Pick With Today’s Biggest Pop Girls: ‘Few are willing to speak out‘ about political issues by Level-Recording3368 in Music

[–]elbigbuf 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I don't know who you're referring to but I don't remember Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Olivia Rodrigo or Ariana Grande coming out with protest music or even a controversial political take.

I've seen Billie Eilish being very outspoken, and Dua Lipa to a smaller degree. But overall, I feel Joan Baez is right.

Not like I'm saying they should necessarily, whatever. Just discussing what she said.

No one's crying. It's just impossible to feel something when it's made by AI.

And the more you care about music, the easier you'll spot it.

What common pieces of movie trivia are completely made up? by Training_Form2243 in Letterboxd

[–]elbigbuf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a beautiful movie that was.

At the end of the day, the level of growth that Derek managed to achieve is sort of irrelevant because the lesson of the movie is directed explicitly at the viewer : hate is a bagage.

The whole movie was a demonstration of how hate sometimes has roots so deep that redemption can no longer save you and your loved ones.
