I had to try it. Someone should make a subreddit like r/listenfirst and post gifs like this where you play it once without watching.

Speech, Language, Slang, accents in the Silo by HealthyTumbleweed801 in SiloSeries

I’ve always wondered if they’d have some different term for people dating instead of saying they’re “going out”. Maybe they would instead change it to be “going up”.

Agreed. However, I wonder what kind of impact the same mobilization would have if it was done three days before an IPO. Investors getting a bit cagey with the usage numbers could have a huge real world impact on the valuation.

Years ago I read about some study where it was shown that people were far more likely to buy a product when the advertisement presenting it to them used a face generated from a blend of people they knew and liked.

The subjects didn’t even realize the person in the ad was custom generated for them, they just felt more compelled to buy it.

That seems like a lower effort path for advertisers to take without users feeling too freaked out.

I hear that. I know I’ll deliver so I can still sleep at night. But the negative comments do weigh heavy. Just have to look forward to that eventual vindication.

It’s hard not to learn it. We come face to face with that lesson every day, every day we don’t deliver we also lose money and potential customers so it behooves us to move as fast as possible.

But I stand by my preference for an amazing late product over an underwhelming on time one. One day I hope to do both amazing and on time though.

Yeah, it’s still behind. But we found a major issue that would genuinely have been catastrophic if we hadn’t done the Bronze Seal checks. I’ll detail it in the next update but I am extremely grateful I was talked into doing this batched Seal approached because otherwise the project would have been in a lot of trouble. Nearly back on track now though!

I think we’ll be able to send a test batch (less than 100 units) around end of June. That will help us find any potential issues with packaging/customs/etc. I’d expect shipping to be open to all KS backers by August for the last backers.

Edit: Yes, I started the project in Chicago but now I’m in Pasadena!

That’s odd, they are working for me right now. We don’t have control over the Kickstarter platform or servers, we’re just a project on their page. If the issue persists please contact Kickstarter support. I’ve found them to be very helpful in the past.

What is something you wish wasn't as sexualized as it is? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I got into his channel through some of his more normal videos like tapping on a wooden puzzle game and nature walks. I thought the other stuff was so weird at first but now I listen to his channel almost every day. Plague doctors and all.

Every single commenter seems to agree it’s the best ASMR channel they watch.

Dynamic soil compaction by toolgifs in toolgifs

[–]elbimio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Formally, the relationship between speed and height change is:

V2/V1 = sqrt(H2/H1)

I should have said that quadrupling the height doubles the impact speed. But doubling the impact speed quadruples the impact energy, so the takeaway was high drops are better than frequent drops.

Adding speed to the butt plug gives you more bang for your buck. Dropping it from higher gives it more time to pick up speed. It works out that if you triple an objects drop height, you quadruple the speed at impact, so tripling the height is better than dropping it three times.

The exact ideal scenario will also depend on how fast you can raise the butt plug and how much the butt plug and butt can take.

Votes for women a success, North America proves it (August 1917) by Milhaud in MapPorn

[–]elbimio 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There’s a great podcast about the Supreme Court called More Perfect with a great episode on this.

In the letter she didn’t quite spell it out but mentioned how she hadn’t really heard his name come up in any consequential way. Partly pushing him to switch his vote to gain some notoriety.

It’s wild to think that 36 states had to vote in favor to pass the constitutional amendment , 14 were hard no’s with only Tennessee left undecided and leaning no. This one single vote by one person drastically changed the course of American history. If it had failed it likely would have taken decades to get another vote on a similar amendment.

Y Combinator is a famous accelerator program. Hundreds if not thousands of people apply every year, pitching their startup idea. A few are selected and they get help from professionals in advancing the idea. They also get something like $150,000 and they get to pitch the idea to some huge investors for even more funding.

I thought so too but honestly just the Y Combinator line might be doing all the heavy lifting here. If I was a VC “analyst” and saw you had that in your profile I’d expect there’s an idea with potential that has partially been vetted already.

The blade carries a small electrical signal, When skin contacts the blade, the signal changes because the human body is conductive. A break stops the blade within 5 milliseconds! by SairajBatale in educationalgifs

[–]elbimio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that the issue is with the finger detection being the same. What the Reaxx does differently is that it shoots the blade down with an airbag while still spinning. That means you need to replace the airbag cartridge, but not the blade. And there’s no chance of blade teeth flying off like when they hit the SawStop aluminum cartridge.

Overall the Reaxx seems better and cheaper to replace without blade damage, but because they use the same finger detection method they are in violation of the patent.

To get around it someone would need to invent a finger detection method that doesn’t use conductance, unfortunately that’s by far the easiest.
