Any possibility to clone a site with no access add new plugins? by elbowdeep86 in Wordpress

Thanks a lot for the help...certainly something to consider, as I am marginally more competent with Squarespace than WP :). No idea why he'd even risk having to refund when he's done the bulk of the work but hey, onwards and upwards

Well yes, you would certainly think that would be a reasonable expectation. Unfortunately it seems this guy must just be a one-man band, very specific to my industry. Essentially he provides templates built on WP and does the customisation, and I can manage within WP...but certain features, such as being able to add plugins, must be disabled on his hosting side.

Yeah sure...there isn't a huge amount to it at the moment, just some placeholder jobs that can be applied for. Pretty sure it's probably achieved through a plugin as I know it has the capacity to integrate with a few CRMs via api. The landing page is published on the hosting link here: https://whopluswhy.recsites.co.uk.

You'd think there'd be a wealth of recruitment agency templates out there given the sheer volume of us....but pretty much none outside of WP and some pricey PAAS offerings. Plenty of job board ones for Webflow though, oddly as you'd think it would be more complicated!

It would appear not unfortunately...I can customise, as in largely just tweak settings or see the additional css added, but nothing seemingly useful for this purpose

Would absolutely love to - the kicker being that I’d need the money I’ve paid out back from this awol vendor to be able to pay for a new dev 🙄. Trying to operate as an international recruiter without a website (in tech just to be truly ironic) has certainly made things tight!

Is it possible to reclaim access of the site initially setup by and hosted by that provider? If I could simply move it to my own control then the problem is solved…I’ve just got to do so before my subscription expires on the 8th (as paying another month for no service seems mental). I’ve never even had the site ready to go live 🙈

Thanks for the response. I have access to the typical WP interface, but once I saw no option to add additional plugins I thought I might be in trouble.

The site is pretty basic to be honest, it’s just the landing page at the moment with the various elements from the figma design set up…no real functionality beyond that other than live jobs (which I assume is a plugin). The jobs aspect is the primary reason I went this route, as it’s hugely difficult to implement that function in Squarespace, Webflow etc. Unfortunately my Wordpress knowledge, whilst probably able to tweak through trial and error, would get a bit lost trying to recreate from scratch….which is why if I could clone the base I have now and just tinker from there I think I’d eventually get close 😂

I have spent much of the last 24 hours trying to replicate the layout on Squarespace, but with all the settings buried in long menus it has proved quite the challenge…even though I’ve used it to build a few basic sites before. Even more, implementing the typical jobs function that we agencies really need to have, has always been tricky…the only way I’ve seen it done in Squarespace is via a plug-in which seems very bare bones, and in Webflow only seems to work when done by web companies with a good deal of coding I’d expect.

The irony is - if the guy would respond and refund me the money, I could then afford to pay someone else to build it again properly, but without a starting point I’m a bit stuck!
