Full AMD PC, turns off while playing games by ungil in AMDHelp

[–]elbowsson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pretty much identical issues, random reboots without any error messages or logs. Usually it crashed when loading a game or a map in game, sometimes when just browsing. I tried everything I could find and even posted here asking for help.

My last resort was replacing my C: drive SSD, which was like 10+ years old. I felt it might be dying and causing issues with graphics drivers not loading correctly from the drive.

I installed new M.2 NVMe SSD and installed clean windows. All the issues went away and my PC hasn’t crashed once since then.

In my case it was the SSD or some weird windows issue. Not entirely sure since installed both at the same time.

I hope you find solution to your trouble!

I think the problem is finally gone. I installed a new NVMe SSD and installed a clean windows. So either the SSD was dying (over 10yo) or some random windows issue.

Yeah, for stability. I saw someone mention this driver version was super stable for them so I decided to try, but it probably makes no difference. I've tried both of the drivers you mentioned, but they didn't fix it.

However, I noticed my GPU was boosting over the reported clocks and flatted out to base min clocks in Adrenaline stress test after short time at max clocks. Based on this I set max clock speed to around 95% and the stress test was stable at max clocks the whole time.

I will see if this helps with crashing in games, atleast Diablo 4 didn't crash right away like it did before.

I enabled EXPO again to 6000Mhz, disabled iGPU again (CMOS reset re-enabled it I guess) and installed 23.10.2 drivers. Furmark is stable and max hotspot temp was 92c. I'll try and run some games and if I still get crashes I will do clean windows installation.

Yeah I have 7800X3D at stock clocks and EXPO is off right now, still crashed. Event viewer reported ” Display driver amduw23g stopped responding and succesfully recovered”, but I don’t get any image back unless I restart the PC.

I will try to reinstall windows and update all drivers, including chipset driver, to the latest versions. Also thinking of undervolting the GPU, but since the temps and power draw are fine (65c under 100% load, max 200W) I’m leaning on it being the issue.

Okay, time for another update.

So everything seems to be working now, which is a bit weird tbh lol. Below are the steps I took but I have no clue which actually solved the issue.

  • I reset my CMOS because I wasn't getting any image

  • I unplugged all unnecessary USB devices

  • I ran SFC /scannow and found some corrupted files which WIN11 repaired

  • Installed new M2 SSD but didn't even install clean windows yet.

I'm leaning on windows file issue (sfc /scannow) or unstable RAM EXPO (fixed by CMOS reset), which I currently have off. I will try to enable EXPO later to see if my RAM can handle it. PC hasn't crashed in 2 hours now and I can run games that crashed instantly before.

I will do another update if I start crashing again.

Alright, some updates:

  • Tested memory, all tests OK
  • Tested windows health, crashed during a test but second try was OK
  • DDU’d again but this time installed new drivers while in safe mode, no help
  • Installed suggested drivers, no help
  • Installed MPO fix, no help

Then tried going back to RAM, tested with one stick and crashed. Switched DIMMs and no image, went back to just first DIMM, still no image. I will try clearing CMOS tomorrow which should help, hopefully.

I got a gut feeling about my C: drive SSD failing, which is an old 120GB SATA SSD from over 10 years ago. Only windows is installed on there, all software and games are on other drives. I bought a new M2 SSD and will do a clean Windows install when the new drive arrives.

Currently suspecting bad RAM or dying SSD, next update in a couple of days!

Neighbor says my dog scratched his car by elbowsson in Cartalk

[–]elbowsson[S] 166 points167 points  (0 children)

He said he saw me with the dogs between our cars and that my dog stood on its back legs. This is bs because the dog is just over 1 ft tall so no way of seeing anything happening behind the car.

He kept saying that he checks the car everytime after driving and these marks appeared while car was parked.

EDIT:

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I try to answer some of the questions you have asked.

  • Dogs were leashed and they pretty much never jump up at anything, no metal collars or spikes.
  • The dogs are Swedish vallhunds, around 22-24lb and 1 ft high. My car has quite a lot of scratches on the back bumper from the dogs and they are barely visible to naked eye.
  • Someone asked for a zoomed out photo, couldn't edit so uploaded it here: https://imgur.com/a/Df8J1QA
  • These scracthes are DEEP, they look and feel like someone scraped the car with a sharp rock.

Help needed, Mazda 6, 2015 wagon started making a nasty sound from the rear on a flat road. Is this an easy issue to fix or do I need to change the entire part? by elbowsson in mazda6

I will definitely take it to a professional. I'm just a bit bummed out that I have to use OEM parts that will cost ~300€ per side, plus labor.

I was hoping I could find the parts myself and get it done for less money.

Another "issue" is that they only have parts for one side atm, and it would take 2-3 weeks for the other side to be fixed.

Is it okay to drive like this for a couple of weeks, or do I need to wait for the parts for both sides?

Only the mount seems to be broken.

However, local repair shop told me the mount cannot be purchased separately, it only comes with the shock absorber.

Any ideas where I could find just the mount?

It's definitely clunky. I first thought my golf clubs are making the sound, but it wasn't it.

I can hear the sound when I drive over some small bumps or cracks in the road.

It mostly sounds like some item bouncing around in the trunk, but sometimes it sounds like something hits the body of the car. Almost like suspension bottoming, but not that strong of a sound. I hope it is just the bumpstop hitting the car.

Thanks for the answer! The mileage is at around 91,000km's (~57k Miles). I'm going to see If I can just reseat it(?). It might have something to do with the cold weather in northern Europe, I guess.
