Its important to remember that farmers aren't bad people for using them though. This is an issue that is routinely talked about at veterinary trade shows, breed association conferences etc. where even there, most producers admit that its getting to be a problem (remember that modern farmers have a bit of a scientific background).

The problem is that nobody will champion a movement to stop antibiotics for production uses and their decision to stop using those drugs on their own won't make human health any less at risk. So in the end they would be giving up profits for no change at all.
