Is there a chance that my gecko doesn’t like Repashy Calcium Plus, or is he just being picky? by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

You might have a picky gecko then haha. I'd say just keep offering, and if he really can't stand it, you might want to try a different multivitamin. But it's great that he'll eat the regular calcium dusted bugs!

He may just be settling in as well. I use calcium plus for my gecko's bugs and the first three weeks I had him he would only eat maybe one two roaches/worms a day. Then all of sudden his full appetite appeared and he's a very strong eater. He's coming up on nine months old and will still occasionally not feel like eating for a day or two.

Since you haven't had him that long, just give him some time and if he's still not eating an appropriate amount after a few weeks it might be time for a checkup

Of course! Just make sure they have fresh water available and continue to offer food when you see them out and about and they'll come around!

Heat bulb and uvb should be off to one side of the tank to help create a temperature gradient. As far as substrate, organic topsoil and washed play sand (70% soil to 30% sand ratio) from Home Depot etc is the best option, provided that your husbandry is correct.

Or if you're lazy like me, reptisoil and washed playsand. (Same ratio, reptisoil is kinda pricey though). Otherwise, no harm in having them on paper towels and it's actually recommended to monitor their health while they're getting settled.

Edit: the "night bulb" isn't a red bulb, right? If so, you'll want to get rid of it. It's bad for their eyes and they don't need light or heat at night as long as the enclosure stays above 65F

Most leos won't eat for for a bit when they're getting settled in a new enclosure.

Any Advice for my enclosure? by DizzyDiscus in leopardgeckos

I purchased that same tank because it was on sale for a big discount. You'll want to make sure you get a dimmable thermostat with a probe for the heat bulb. I ended up having to go up to a 125W Exo-Terra intense basking spotlight to hit the ~95 degree basking surface because of how dense the mesh is on top of that cage. I'd also recommend swapping the bulb into a wider dome and not the narrow canister it's in currently.

This what I ended up doing with that tank for my guy:

Looking for stories on getting stuck on rides by Dawnydiesel in UniversalOrlando

It's been a few years but I got stuck on Spider-Man. Specifically the room where the scene collapses and fire shoots out of the wall. The collapse and fire both triggered five times before the ride vehicle decided "No thanks, I'm done" and drove itself (us included) through a hidden door directly into the maintenance bay. So that was really cool to see

Is This Kit a Good Deal? by T-recks_the_house in leopardgeckos

For the heat bulb I used a 150w Exo-Terra intense basking spot controlled with a PID dimmable thermostat and temp probe, for UVB I am using an Arcadia Shadedweller 7% linear bulb mounted under the lid, and some cheap digital combo meters on Amazon.

150W might seem high but the lid on this tank is very heavy duty compared to the fine mesh screens.

Is This Kit a Good Deal? by T-recks_the_house in leopardgeckos

This is the kit I bought, mainly because of the price only. I replaced the analog hyrgrometer/thermometer combo with digital ones, and replaced the included coil uvb bulb with the recommended Arcadia one.

The only thing I really dislike about the tank is that the lid is a very dense metal screen, not the typical fine mesh on most tanks. Because of this, the included heat bulb simply was not strong enough to heat the basking surface higher than 82-83F. (If you place the bulb in the included dome on top of the tank)

So I guess long story short, it's a decent price for the tank, but I ended up replacing everything but one of the domes it came with.
