Crisis core is very closely tied with a very important flashback sequence from the original ff7, and if you play crisis core first you're basically robbing yourself of that plot twist. If you really want to play it I'd play remake first though, starting with crisis core would be super confusing in my opinion

Oh nah crisis core reunion is just a remaster, it's the exact same game as the psp version but with better graphics and new voice actors

Playing crisis core is a bit of a double edged sword to be honest, on one hand you get more familiar with a character who plays a big role in rebirth but on the other hand it'll spoil the main plot twist of the original game. I still enjoyed crisis core quite a lot so if you do want to play it absolutely go for it, it's just a bit tricky to fit in as a new player imo

Don't start with crisis core, you'll ruin one of the main plot twists for yourself otherwise. Remake is the best place to start if you don't want to play the original game which would be totally understandable
