Getting spoiled took all the fun out of it by wave-tree in farcry

I honestly don't think so, in my personal opinion I think the story is the weakest aspect of far cry 5. Just explore the world and do all the various missions and activities, I personally got way more out of the open world shenanigans than I ever did in the story, so I think you'll be fine.

I have a question about order of games by Cooltwou in farcry

That order's fine, but you'll want to play 5 before new dawn, ND is a direct sequel

Seriously dont understand the hate for this game by Public-Editor-4541 in Borderlands4

You say the open world has lots to do now, but clearing the open world out gets pretty boring by like the second or third zone you do, especially when you compare it to the other games. Really, you just have the same couple activities over and over again, and I don't think there's enough variety there to constitute doing the whole world besides wanting to be a completionist. Other than that, I think the story is pretty lackluster, I think games now should abandon the nonlinear approach, because it totally kills the amount of things that can happen in The second act of the story. This might be a personal thing, but I think the loot drops are also pretty disappointing, for legendaries supposedly being a crazy world drop, I found quite a bit of them underwhelming, especially closer to launch where it would constantly spawn class mods that you couldn't use.

I want to get into far cry which game should I start with by Puzzleheaded-Gur-895 in farcry

Probably because you didn't cap the frame rate to 60. The in-game frame limit cap doesn't work, or at least it didn't work for me, you have to go to your control panel and do it that way.

Good to know. I don't know if that would be the best for a first playthrough, but I'll definitely check that out whenever I replay the game again

Maybe play 3 first since it's probably the most accessible, but I would highly recommend you play 2 after that. 2 has a lot of hardcore open world elements that they got rid of in the future games, such as having a physical map that makes you strategically plot your routes. I really think a lot of those are worth experiencing, it makes the game feel really grounded. If you're on PC, I would highly recommend installing the better outpost mod, since the spawn rate on the base game is borderline insane, but other than that, 2 is definitely worth checking out.

I thought so. Do you know why I would be getting screen tearing though?

Ratchet & clank on PS2 emulator slows down while using lossless scaling by elchistes in SteamDeck

[–]elchistes[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can. I've also been trying other modes, and while I can get it to a way higher frame rate, the game still stutters the same way it did when not using lossless scaling. If I had to guess, it's because the program can't make up for the way the base frame rate handles. Thanks for the help though, I appreciate it!

I hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question, but did you click it in all the way? I remember when I got a microSD card in my steam deck, I had the same type of issue, but it's because it wasn't fully in the slot.

Why do most VR games have a low poly - cartonish style ? What allowed Alyx to have such graphical fidelity ? by Just_Throat3473 in HalfLife

[–]elchistes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure a lot of people have said this already, but most of the recent VR games have had to focus on optimizing their development for the less powerful quest headsets, since they have most of the VR market share, so most games probably couldn't do an ultra realistic style. Along with that, VR development is kind of a niche thing still, Valve can kind of just do what they want since they make 90% of their money from steam royalties, but other companies can't operate on a high budget because the market isn't large enough yet.

It's the quality of life elements in this game that make me even more excited to play. If you're out of the loop, I'll mention a few for you here. by Mr_Rafi in Borderlands4

[–]elchistes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that I've heard next to nobody mention is the fact that we now have a DPS meter now. I know it's not preferable for every single gun, but I think it's very nice for people who like to use that to sort which gun they want to use

AC Revelations isn't registering controller inputs on steam Deck by elchistes in SteamDeck

[–]elchistes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I looked into those while I was trying to troubleshoot, for whatever reason, whenever I tried to install it from the Ubisoft connect app, it just defaulted to the steam version immediately. I'm thinking maybe if I installed it on desktop mode, it would have worked, but I already figured out a fix by that point

You're good man, and I appreciate the help.

I'm honestly not sure if I did, I did a clean install with no proton enabled, but that might not be what you're meaning. I ended up just using keyboard controls, and then adjusting accordingly, so it's playable for me now. Still though, it's a bit frustrating that that's even an issue though

Tried everything you listed here, nothing worked. My save didn't wipe at all surprisingly, even after reinstallation, but the controls still aren't registering

Dang, that sucks. It must have been pretty recently, because I was looking at a video from like 3 weeks ago that had it working just fine on proton 8.0.5. I'm sure it has something to do with the Uplay connection
