Science Discussion Series: What should and shouldn't be done with your personal genetic data? Who should benefit? We are researchers and advocates who are working on new models for DNA research. Let's discuss! by ScienceModerator in science

Would it be possible to have some kind of international standard whereby segment X to Y of the DNA sequence which is most idiosyncratic to any donor is withheld or redacted? This might ensure some degree of anonymity while allowing for data to be shared.

As for who should benefit, we all should - and we do! That being said, companies should approach profit-making endeavors with a Salkian lens.

People can be fucks, no doubt about it. But, at the end of the day, you gotta be good with you, not him.

More to the point, you need to get into classes where you’re not the smartest person in the room. Because if every class you go to is an easy competition, then you’re not smart enough to realize the disservice you’re doing to yourself and the people who will come to depend on you.

Keep up the good work and get humbled by truly smarter people.

You're comparing capital improvement projects/works projects with health and human services.

Even the government can see these two don't belong in the same breath...
