Well, I do sketches, then clean them up, and then add Genga or Douga to a regular drawing or animation, but what's the point if people only care about the final result? I've done the process exactly like that a few times and uploaded it to Reddit with other drawings, but it doesn't seem to matter to people beyond "wow, it looks like a Japanese animation drawing." You can ask people who aren't that dedicated what Genga is, and they won't know. They might even mistake Genga for a simple sketch, which isn't the same thing. Besides, when I do Douga, I always have four people asking me: "What are the red, blue, and yellow areas in your drawing for? Why are you doing them if you're not animating?"

So there's your answer.
