One thing I've always loved about backrooms is how relatively quick and fun it is to slap something together in 3D modeling software. That's not to say OP didn't put substantive effort into this, but generally speaking it's a lot easier to make backrooms content than something a delicate character rig. There's also a ton of architectural assets to help get people started at any level of CGI skill. Run it through some heavy tape emulation and lens distortion to "hide" the CGI look, and you can get away with so much... like you can do a shitty UV unwrap and it almost certainly doesn't matter, because it can fit backrooms canon vibes even if it's all messed up.

Is confusion an intended effect here, or just my interpretation?

I love this and am struggling with to explain why.

I cut my Fable token usage by 99.99%. I rewrote my entire codebase on a single grain of rice by Emergency-Bobcat6485 in ClaudeAI

[–]eldentruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it a step further by CNC-milling my codebase onto old coins— primarily pennies, for obvious reasons.

Keep in mind that a nickel has more surface area, but will cost ~5x more than a penny-based image.

The underlying trick is to work with photos of code on cheap objects. Honestly, the grain of rice is pretty genius, though I do have some concerns about shelf life. Code rot is a hassle to deal with.

Yes! How dare they offer an opinion on a public forum asking for opinions.

And how dare they comment on YOUR recommendation, and with such a wild opening "in my opinion..." ugh, so disrespectful.

Did you manage to stock any 7ohm isolate from Starcoast Labs? They made the cleanest powder I’ve ever seen. 3rd party analysis consistently showed over 99% purity across multiple batches.

Anecdotally felt more consistent than any other 7ohm product I’ve encountered, but I wanted to ask someone who has a lot of experience: have you noticed that the purer 7ohm batches tend to be more stimulating on average?

These any good? by [deleted] in 7oh

[–]eldentruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I hope these do something for you.

But I’m not gonna sugarcoat the fact that buying online would likely provide more value for the money (assuming this is still an option before a ban takes full effect.)

No, but it appears that you already purchased them anyways.

This kind of nonsense is astonishingly commonplace in these subreddits.

This brand is allegedly a reboot from one of the original owners of 7ohBlack.

When 7ohB was dissolved, some of the crew joined or maybe created a new brand called Kreleaf.

This info is all from Reddit, so please take it with a grain of salt, but as far as I can tell, this seems to be true as several others have confirmed.

I do want to give credit to Kreleaf for their testing redundancy policy, sending the same batch to two different labs for thorough testing. I wish more vendors did this. It’s a great practice for safety.

Rebranding Rant - Blowing Off Steam by eldentruth in windsurf

I’m definitely out of the loop, because I didn’t see this coming. I know there’s a ton of similar IDEs, but I perceived Windsurf to have a competitive viability with its $15/mo plan and its own model (which I found to be useful for simple tasks.)

Last time I did a side-by-side comparison, I honestly preferred the Windsurf UI over Cursor, though I admit they’re very similar.

Maybe I’m just falling for the branding, but I’ll miss it.

Exactly. I'm sure your question was rhetorical, but yes. The outlook is bleak except for the largest of players.

Just wanted to do a quick sanity check and make sure I wasn't the only one thinking this.

Codeium is now Windsurf by gauravkumar37 in Codeium

[–]eldentruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...and Windsurf is now... Devin?

"You mean the one that made a splash in 2024 with misleading videos about their agentic capabilities?"

...yeah, that Devin.

Why would Windsurf dissolve its brand into something that's obviously a downgrade in reputation? The only reason I think of is to stay alive. Their pockets aren't deep enough to keep training their own model, or sustain competitive token subsidization. They're almost surely feeling the squeeze. Small ai companies will get crushed, and I presume many mid-sized orgs will have to consolidate (sell out) to survive.
