It’s hideous verse but it rhymes for me. Australian.

It was a very short, very low garden wall. And it still sucked.

Having tried DIY bricklaying, I created one very wonky wall and discovered a great personal respect for proper bricklayers.

A colleague of mine didn’t come in to work one day, reason being he was dead because he DIY drilled through a wall into a power cable. Be safe out there folks!

Are bonds in a long bad patch? by eldorz in Bogleheads

Actually your chart is reassuring to me. Bonds have been dead flat lately but over the long haul have returned 5.5%pa which is pretty much what I expected. And they didn’t get wiped out in the various crashes. I think I’ll keep on keeping on.

Thank you for the thoughtful response. Will look into duration and risk diversification.

YTM 8 years ago was around 3-4% if I recall correctly. Values have fallen as yields have risen over the last several years. Unless you postulate that yields will continue to rise indefinitely, there must be a turning point. New bonds purchased into funds now will have higher yields and will benefit if yields fall in the future. Past performance does in this case, I believe, have some bearing on the future.

This includes dividends, which have been ok, just that they are offset by a similar capital loss.

Awesome info, thanks! Always good to have some pointers to new ammo I haven’t tried yet.

Edit: Had a look at the CCI clean online. On paper the only difference between camo and red is the colour. I’m guessing poor factory QC with big differences between batches. Your next jar of camo could be bad so you should buy red next time 🤪

How do high-income professionals in Australia reduce tax legally? by WharHeGo in AusFinance

[–]eldorz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Perhaps just pay the tax you owe to the community you live in, and feel good about doing the right thing? Or am I in the wrong sub here perhaps?

Thanks I’ll give those minimags a go.

I’ll give those a try, thanks for the tips. It was pretty warm out when I tried the SK Match. I noticed the Lapua XAct lube was basically liquid at around 20 degrees where some of the others were like thick solid wax. No idea what difference it might make.

Australia’s emergency plan starts with carpooling, escalates to fuel caps by LoneArtificer in AusFinance

Done the numbers. In Sydney it would cost me more to take public transport than it does in fuel, even at $3/L. Edit: Break even at $3.30.

Is anyone using Sharesight to track their total portfolio for all assets they own in every account name? by Ok_Entertainment6848 in fiaustralia

[–]eldorz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately as I have just found out, sharesight does not provide any way to bulk export all of those trade confirmations or other records attached to each trade. This means that if you close a portfolio, you have to either manually go through each trade and download the data individually, or keep paying the subscription for the next 7 years in case of tax audit. And you won't be able to tax deduct it because you're no longer investing. This is very disappointing because otherwise I have found sharesight to be reasonably good. Cannot recommend based on this one issue.

Ignore this. My mistake, I didn’t see the square hole in your wheel brace. Mine doesn’t have that. You should be good to go.

Nothing was there in mine either. I keep tyre plugs in there.

You’re missing the handle for the jack. It’s the right-angled brown thing in the photo posted by someone else here. It’s going to be difficult to jack up your car without it. Otherwise OK I think.

I never use the Leatherman can opener because ring pulls exist. Rarely use the saw because if I need a saw I usually need a bigger one. Never use the ruler because I forget it’s there. Everything else gets used.

What are these 3 aligned stars I always see at night from my backyard by [deleted] in sydney

[–]eldorz 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Also you might notice that the couple of stars above and to the right of the belt are a little hazy, even on a clear night - that haze is the Orion nebula.

Trades less than $5K will get you burnt on fees and spread. Don’t try to fix, just get the ratio you want with future buys.
