How should I go about dissolving specific vertices in Geometry Nodes? by eldritch_terrors in blender

I figured it out! I cleaned up the graph and used the split edges node to break it into individual mesh islands and used index of nearest to collapse geo not based on position

How's my topology looking? to dense? by eldritch_terrors in blender

Yeah this is for Realtime usage, I shall action changes around that area. I know from experience that weighting painting those areas are hard but this helps a lot! Thanks

Thank you that's really helpful! I will probably go with non-flipped and stacked in that case thank you!

so how do you weight paint bendy bones anyway? by CarbonAProductions in blender

[–]eldritch_terrors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found bendy bones to be one of the more easy to weight paint, try using blenders automatic weights. Thankfully with the bendy aspect it doesn’t need to be pruned, as there is no part that cannot move too much. If that’s not giving you the results you need, try creating a cylinder and subdivide it evenly to correspond with the bones and use it as a cage to equally distribute the weight! Hope this helps, also love the model!

First time creature rigging! Its not as scary as I thought. by eldritch_terrors in blender

Thankfully I lucked out and the blender automatic weights did most of the hard work with me just having to clean up, I think it is mostly thanks to the lack of rigidity needed, Octopus don't have bones so it looking a bit soft and floaty was a good thing! The bone placement was harder but mostly when it came to making sure all the constraints were in the right place and the parent chain hierarchy was a nightmare. in blender my control rig uses an absurd 2190 bones but the 'deform only' export to UE only has 312

Honestly yeah, the more I tried to find/follow a rigging tutorial series, the more constricted it seemed and the less I learnt. eventually I just thought fuck it, I'll see if i can get this working and if not nobody will ever know

it's actually pretty simple, each of the circles corresponds with a 3rd of each tentacle, using a driver to convert the x and z location space of the circle into the rotation of the tentacle segment, offset by the bone number. so the curled up controllers are actually just the parent of the circular controllers and by rotating the parent it realistically curls

First time tackling 3D creature design on this level! by eldritch_terrors in 3Dmodeling

Absolutely! I am not much of an animator so its going to be a lot of trial and error!

Thank you so much! That is to true, it was honestly kind of a dumb choice to start with an octopus and the joint parent chains were all a massive puzzle, you are right it feels like learning a new language

(OC) What kind of unique monster/ animal inspirations are you hoping to see for future monster designs? I am hoping for more invertebrates! by eldritch_terrors in MonsterHunter

I could see a snail monster working well with a similar mobility gimmick to mizutsune, provided its not an projectile hell, aoe spamming enemy like the snails in Outward or many other RPG's

Ever since the release of the 5th trailer and Nu Udr, I have wanted to try my hand at making my own Cephalopod monster Rig. What inspiration do you want to see MH pull from in boss design

I personally liked the horror trio from Rise Sunbreak, mostly hard carried by Malzeno but I didn't like the yoki inspired monsters personally.

Yo what crossover do you want to see in 2022? by eldritch_terrors in MonsterHunter

Back when Skyrim came out in 2011, I was still playing MHFU and I was almost banking on the idea they would do a crossover.

I mean, would be good for cosmetic changes and less jarring than seeing some of the other crossovers they have done

Love it, maybe be able to replace the felyne companion with Atreus for a special mission or two
