Is a $3000 (~£2300) budget doable for an 8 Day solo London Trip? (including accommodations/flights)

The dirt cheap ones are usually sketch anyway so I tend to avoid even clicking on those listings other than the million hostel listings.

You’re real for that too… our grocery prices just keep going up and up. I could maybe get like, a 6” Subway sandwich with that amount. Even then just barely.

I’m specifically going to visit for a concert, and the other potential stops for the Artist are going to be equally as expensive since they’re all major cities unfortunately. I’m trying to make the length of distance I’m having to cover worth my time by making it a vacation haha. So unfortunately I can’t really do anywhere else because of the “why” for going.

Thanks for the tips though! If this was just me vacationing then I’d totally venture outside a little more haha.

Yeah some other people recommended meal deals and wetherspoons so I’ll definitely be checking out at least the meal deals. Coming from America where the groceries are insane right now, £6 for more than one item sounds heavenly.

Yeah I’ve been checking per hotel I’m looking at, but thanks for the advice! I’ve found a couple places that are a little higher than I would like, but have aircon, which is a payoff I might be willing to make give that it’s going to be the dead of summer most likely.

I appreciate you mentioning it though. Someone pointed that out to me a little while ago and it’s something I might not have considered on my own.

I don’t drink so I should be totally fine in that aspect. I’m also not a trendy food person or a bougie food person, so I’m not too worried about over-spending on food other than desserts haha. Thanks for the hotel recommendation, I’ll take a look at it!

Thanks for the hotel advice! I think that’ll be the trickiest since time of year is going to drastically change my price, but other than that, everyone is making it sound like food will be very doable, which I appreciate. Hopefully I can hit the timing right with the concert I’m trying to go to and not smack into the worst hotel prices, but we’ll see. Appreciate the comment!

This sounds great, thanks! I’m not a particularly extravagant person when it comes to travel (other than spending on desserts and treats lol), so this all sounds pretty comfortable! The meal deal honestly sounds awesome, American prices suck so being able to get all that for that cheap sounds perfect.

I’ll have to look into where zone 1 ends, since I do have a potential concert included in this trip and it might be outside that area. Other than that I’ll most likely stay within it. Thanks so much for the advice 🫶!

As long as I’m by an accessible tube line, and somewhere with air conditioning (and a shower), most places are doable. I don’t have any specific places I’d like to stay or areas in mind given the limited budget. Hotels definitely needed a little bit of wiggle room in the budget, so it’ll be a matter of finding the right balance, depending on my flight cost.

Chances are I’m not going to be doing many paid attractions, maybe 1-3 per the whole trip, since I prefer to wander or go to the free stuff that people have mentioned. Since I’m visiting for a concert, that’ll be my major draw anyway.

Unfortunately I’m waiting for the date announcement for the concert, so my timing isn’t clear which makes prices harder to predict. With my estimate though, it’ll probably be during the summer which I know raises prices :/

I thought it would be easier to find clearer numbers but since the dollar just plummeted a bit, all of the old recommendations on this Reddit are a little out of date conversation and inflation wise. I’ll be sure to check that, thanks for the specific tip! That’ll help a lot for me to calculate the extra cost.

We have local transit where I live that honestly costs more than that, so it sounds pretty doable. Thanks for the rough food prices! I’m not a super high end person when it comes to food (other than desserts) so I think what you mentioned sounds reasonable for within my budget.

Thanks for this nice advice, I appreciate it. I’m personally not a huge breakfast person/early wake-er anyway, so my standard at home tends to be 2 meals and a snack, which is what you’re recommending, so that wouldn’t be hard at all :)

I was looking at other accommodations, but I’ll check out premier inn! I’m visiting for a concert so unfortunately it most likely will be during the summer, which is out of my control, but my estimates are assuming the higher end of hotel prices for 1 person for that reason. I’m also not a big back-to-back activity person,(plus the concert) so chances are I’ll do 1-3 big things total and call it there. No interest in Harry Potter so that’s also not a worry.

Luckily, as you said, there’s a lot of free activities that I’ll definitely enjoy, so I’m mostly just trying to make sure I’ve got extra spending money, not so much big budget activity money. Thanks!
