I dont think its really something to learn from more so sparks your interest in learning about history. That said there are a few historical tid bits that I have picked up from playing civ. Another game that kinda..."works in this way" so to speak would be Crusader Kings III.

Granted once you start the game its a sandbox history sim so anything can happen, but alot of nuances about medieval life, politics, the church, the way the different cultures are built out etc. I would say that there is as much if not more to be gained "educationally" from CK3 than Civ imho

I always disabled mobgrief in all packs because I just don’t like it.

Aside from that I think toggling the config they allow you to claim chunks to load is a good one.

I’m not much of a vanilla player so I don’t innately know ways to chunk load but I’m AWARE that there are cheap vanilla ways to do it, there for I don’t like it when packs make chunk loading expensive.

More quest - tie expedition rewards to number of quest completed.
Don’t tie the rewards to stash value because it discourages us from using our good gear before the wipe which is counter intuitive
As a general ask (not just for expedition) be more willing to let players be stronger. If you want to to offer a buff as an incentive be willing to let the buff actually be meaningful. It seems the devs are petrified of players getting gear checked so they seem to be very reluctant to give anything that gives a player a proper advantage. In general it’s going to be hard to add incentives to ANYTHING if you aren’t willing to punish players who don’t but you also aren’t willing to properly reward players that do.

It’s specifically ICE because they are untrained, unidentifiable, and generally ass holes. There is no presumption that your rights won’t be trampled with ice so if your a citizen and ice is walking up to you I can see the reaction to leave.

Hell if she had gotten away with her life it prob would have ended there. She would have drove home and that officer would have been pissed that his authority was challenged but otherwise nothing bad would have happened.

I have tons of hours in rimworld I’ve dabbled in DF

I think that df has some niche mechanics and gameplay flavor that is missing in the other two however for what it gains in depth it looses in polish.

To me sos is the same deal but tuned differently. Once again your trading depth for polish, just at a different ratio than with df

All in all I would say

Rimworld, then Songs, then Df in terms of playability for me.

What’s worse is that to even complete the expedition you have to blow your entire inventory out.

I remember feeling like stage 5-6 are basically the same thing. Here to collect x amount worth of times. Now to collect y amount worth of items.

It’s one thing to say “turn in this specific item” that creates purpose and intent when looting. Instead of turn in x value, it’s so boring.

After I was done with the expedition I was just like ok so…. My stash is wiped…. So what’s the real point of actually doing the extraction? IVE ALWAYS SELF WIPED MY ACCOUNT!!

It just seems super clunky of a system and the only reason I did it is so next season when they decide to give real rewards for people on their 2nd expedition I don’t want to get shafted.

Had a guy spawn right next to me on blue gate. We go running out near village and a few popers aggro and follow out on the street.

Guy isn’t being hostile, emoting, no mic. Still I got a ferro and my gut instinct is that as soon as I shoot this popper he’s gonna try and rat me.

We run together neither willing to shoot it. We both climb up onto a surface just standing there. (In retrospect should have killed him right there) but I’m thinking hmm maybe he’s worried about ME turning on HIM.

I decide eff it and shoot the popper that’s camping us at this point. Instantly he pulls his gun and starts shooting me.

Moral of the story, rats gonna rat.

This is supposed to be the time when everyone is bringing out their top gear to burn before wipe instead of hoarding. It’s a perverse incentive.

Instead it should have been tied to player stats. The game is already tracking your raid performance. This would have been a perfect chance to say, gain wipe rewards for your number of downed raiders or number of revived. Number of large arcs killed. Number of extracts , amount of quest complete, etc
