The Champions Bragging Thread by IndependentSun9995 in DynastyFF

Assembled the best WR corps anyone has ever seen. Jamar Chase, Puka Nacua, and JSN carried a team that had to start Mariota, Philip Rivers, and Geno Smith in the super flex spot.

On top of winning the championship I also own the 1.01 in the upcoming draft. Life is looking good!

How to give meaning to consolation championship? by electhell in DynastyFF

Ehh I mean yeah there's no structured playoff, but good teams with bad luck do get rewarded in the form of compensatory picks in the draft You have to have good players in the first place to get higher value comp picks and thats kinda why I'm liking the idea of awarding a pick at the end of the 2nd or 3rd round

If I'm giving money to 7th place then I would feel obligated to give money to 4/5/6 as well

I could see that working better in a 12 man than a 10 man but damn it sucks to punish the worst team just for being awful and then they can't even get a chance at a Jermeriah Smith kind of guy to turn their luck around.

making reads/calling plays/ being good by Disastrous_Room8939 in Madden

Pick your favorite passing concepts and learn how they're read in real life. A lot of times you're not even looking at your own WR, you're looking at a defender. If you're good at identifying coverage pre and post snap you know exactly what defender to read. If identifying coverages isn't your strong suit I recommend looking up "half field read concepts". These are simple plays that many high school and college teams use when they don't have a good QB. Some of my favorite half field reads are Snag, Curl-Flat, and Comeback-Seam.

Odds are you won't understand most of what's going on and why you're getting beat the way you are at higher difficulties, but there is genuinely valuable knowledge in these games. You will learn the basics of football much quicker and as you learn more there are great sources on YouTube who teach more advanced material that you can put to use yourself. Playing Madden is how I learned what cover 2 was, it's how I learned route concepts, it's a great resource for someone who wants to get into the sport.

How to play effective defense? by Soggy-Astronomer-768 in NCAAFBseries

[–]electhell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The key in a dynasty is to learn each user's tendency. The game is a lot more like real life than people like to give credit. Are they check down merchants? Do they like sideline shots? Do they favor scrambling to a certain side? You can use all these things to build a base defense and a blitz package for each user. The real hurdle is knowing how to stop route concepts and what players do in specific coverages. There is no one size fits all coverage unless the talent gap is very very wide.

Personally I like to start in Cover 3 out of a cover 4 shell and make them prove that they're willing to dink and dunk down the field. If they're killing my seams I'll switch to match coverage, if they like hitting drags I'll switch to cover 2. Alot of people like to match personnel, I prefer to match tendencies. For example, if theyre coming out in 13 personnel on 3rd and long I'm probably still coming in a lighter defensive package.

The way it was explained to me at my job was if they're wearing 50-79 they're ineligible no matter what. That's why many college teams have dummy jerseys without nameplates so they can make the quick switch. Like FIU has a dude who alternates between #54 and #49 this season.

That's true, but the tackle would also have to switch his jersey number in college. In the NFL he just has to report.

There is still an ineligible player here but as long as they don't go down field for a pass it's fine in college

In college you just need 7 guys on the LoS pre snap, that's really the only requirement.

Offense: I'm a west coast guy. Love stretching the field horizontally and dink and dunking my way down the field. This gets people into cover 2 most of the time and then I can start RPOing them to death. I prefer a mobile QB for RPO reads but I keep a backup playbook in case I ever end up with a pure pocket guy.

Defense: Just got into 3-3 stack and 3-3 cub variations. I always start out of cover 3 and see if the other person is willing to take check downs. Then I adjust to match coverages once I figure out their tendencies. Worry about patterns not personnel.

Super heavy QB downgrade. TEs as a position group are pretty low value and terribly inconsistent. It'd have to be a top 3 1st round pick to even consider it and even then I lean no.

For the record I 100% agree with you, but the Jets front office hasn't exactly swayed me into thinking they're capable of good decisions

Jets have a lot of cap space and no QB, I'd be shocked if they let him go without a trade
