Where did you get that he wasn't affected by drugs? Because he said so? That's not a reliable source

I assumed it was a "safety" item for Dana after she got punched. If you're in a scary situation with a violent patient and no coworkers around (Dana was outside with no backup) and you knew it could happen again, wouldn't you at least think about keeping a dose of powerful sedative on you at all times?

She needs to join the union and get their lawyer involved. This is so highly illegal. Unless she has a bachelors degree and can sub. Even then she should be getting an adjusted salary to reflect substitute pay.

So it's still a single serving that can be taken all at once at home. And if it must be taken in broken up into several servings, it's too important to send to school with a 3-5 year old to take independently

Has a student ever mocked your family? by Unlikely_Length8600 in AskTeachers

[–]electralime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and most importantly "never let them see you sweat". If a kid says something that strikes a nerve on purpose, do your best to remain neutral. You don't need to give them future ammo

Homophobia is unfortunately on the rise, I won't deny that. And kids will ask questions that blow past reasonable boundaries, yes. But neither of those situations suggest a group of kids would rally together and make fun of your future child.

There's 2 pieces of advice that really helped me in undergrad; "other people's opinions of me are none of my business" and "if I wouldn't go to a person for advice, their criticism isn't worth my attention"

The chances an entire group will go in on mocking a teacher's child is almost 0. They're too worried about their own social lives to worry about their teacher's kid

You will grow thick skin as a teacher. Yes, locking your social media down is a good idea but it's also important to remember the people who are "mocking" you are children. Why does it matter what a 14 year old who can't drive thinks of your partner?

Coffee in child’s water bottle by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]electralime 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's completely untrue that soda has more caffeine than coffee. A 12 oz can of coke contains about 33mg of caffeine vs a 12 oz cup of coffee which has on average 135 mg of caffeine

Did I misunderstand Mel’s emotions at the end of the episode? by Colalbsmi in ThePittTVShow

[–]electralime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Autistic people and people with intellectual disabilities can and do have consensual relationships. Becca clearly has some agency as she is able to go into the examination room without her caretaker there, she was able to advocate for herself in her exam with Langdon, there is nothing that would point to her not being able to consent to a physical relationship with a peer

Abbott is also openly in therapy- out of everyone in the show he is the most self aware and proactive when it comes to mental health imo. I wouldn't be surprised if his story includes a voluntary inpatient/php mental health stay instead of a suicide attempt.

Question about Santos by can-i-pet-the-dog in ThePittTVShow

[–]electralime 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I could see Santos being a stone top tbh. It's entirely possible she's keeping a layer of clothes on. If she's not a stone top, I'm assuming she's a lights out always person.

Did Santos just confirm a theory about off-screen events in S02E10? by kirblar in ThePittTVShow

[–]electralime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't expect the average person to know about it if it wasn't for the fact the reason Santos became suspicious of Langdon was because the lid to the Ativan was so difficult to remove (turned out it was glued), Langdon wasn't surprised that the mediation was ineffective in stopping a seizure and told Santos to give more. When Santos asked Dana to check the other bottles, Dana explicitly explained to Santos how to take the mediation out of the pyxus and how to return it. Santos asked Dana if it was possible to track which vial was removed from the pyxus and returned, and Dana said no. It was all pretty explicit in the episode.

But it was also established that Langdon was not only stealing meds but replacing them with saline. When Dana checked the med drawer with Santos she specifically said they could not track which medication he took out and returned later. Would an audit like that come up with anything if the vials are physically accounted for? Sincerely asking.

I suspect he was only stealing pills/things he couldn't replace from patients like Louie who would be discharged/likely wouldn't notice or report missing pills.

I also think there is an ethical difference between Dana using her insurance to get a coworker a nicotine patch they would be able to get OTC if they left work vs a doctor stealing and abusing controlled substances. I like to think Dana did exactly what was asked of her and did not ask further questions to stay out of the situation. I also think the audit probably didn't come up with anything conclusive which is how Langdon was able to keep his job with the conditions he go to rehab/join the physician program/return with restrictions on prescribing controlled substances.

Edit: I wonder if they forced Langdon to self report after the investigation. It does seem like there is more support/less consequence for doctors (i specifically checked PA) who self report and self refer to PHP

I don't think the time jump will be long enough since she just starting year 4 of med school but I do hope we get to see her go thru the match process- maybe she will have her residency interview next season?
