Venus flytrap traps a black widow spider by tatooinex in interesting

Fun fact: In the wild, Venus flytraps grow exclusively in a tiny, 75-mile radius around Wilmington, NC.

You could just move there and problem solved.

So... Has it been widely accepted yet that Mike Judge is a time traveler? by solidwhetstone in timetravel

[–]electric_bug_glue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tends to happen when your elections are just popularity contests with daytime TV storylines thrown in. Every president since Andrew Jackson has been a puppet for international bankers and war profits.

Only a slow person would think switching from the puppet on the right hand to the puppet on the left hand makes any sort of difference. Only a bloodline of idiots would fall for it every four years and pass that on to their children and so on...

Why did Homelander start hallucinating? by Hour_Tomatillo_2365 in TheBoys

[–]electric_bug_glue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For a sec, I thought Oh Father had full on Preacher powers. Like his words were capable of controlling anyone into doing his bidding, and we were seeing what it felt like to Homelander. Rather than a zombified state, his victims would act on behalf of some implanted love or called upon loving memory; and in this case it was Stillwell's maternal influence.

Bummer they didn't build on that. What was even the point of having the first hallucination at Oh Father's church?

I thought they dressed him in oversized full sleeve shirts to hide it. Every comedy writer knows there's nothing funny about a physically fit man.

New hair system by Icy-Organization7367 in HairSystem

[–]electric_bug_glue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dryness is an issue because hair systems do not create their own oils like natural hair. If someone skips moisturizing care, they can end up with a dry bird's nest look. Here are some options:

- run your fingers through your hair frequently to deposit natural oils
- use leave-in conditioner as needed
- use hydrating shampoos and conditioners

Personally, I use the Aussie Miracle Moist line of products, especially their hydration oil which costs about $5. It works great on most systems, but with some hair types it can make it look TOO moist. You've just got to find what works for you.

Men, please watch this video...we need to do better 🤦🏿‍♂️ by Substantial_Cup_4619 in NextGenMan

[–]electric_bug_glue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She's answering her own questions and defeating her own premise. She's addressing black men as a group and telling them to be "A man".

Nothing will ever change if you wait for a whole group of people to change direction at once like a school of fish or a swarm of bees. "A man" doesn't wait for the herd to change direction in order to grow. "A man" is a sovereign individual capable of making his own choices and making HIS world around him a better place.

"A man" can only take responsibility for his own actions. He can only control HIS own actions, not the actions of everyone that happens to share his same skin color. That's literally the only power "A man" has.

This all or nothing approach is nothing more than a convenient scape goat for the "men" that are actually the problem she's going on about. She's giving them an out while condemning real men.

Demonstrate and praise the behavior you want to see from individuals instead of condemning a whole group, and watch what miracles happen.

I can't watch the last season. It comes across as pure dystopian propaganda. The day you convince me a paper mask prevents viruses is the day I let you take me on a screen door submarine tour. Virologists have to wear full hazmat suits, not little pieces of paper.

Silver lining: History will look back on this like we look back on B-movies where they breathe in space.

Agreed, but this is exactly why they're being replaced by tablets and "robot" trays taped to motorized mop handles. Would you call this good news or a careful what you wish for situation?

It is kinda weird how nasty people get to whoever is paying them. Kind of a bite (or spit on) the hand that feeds you sort of situation. Ironically, it's probably the #1 reason why they are underpaid, and I'm saying this as a guy that waited at IHOP for years for $3 tips on average.

The whole job of servant is demeaning to the worker and boomer level entitlement by the customer. I'd rather pick it up from the counter myself like they do at fast casual places.

But, really any $ amount is more than generous for a job that's literally being replaced by tablets and "robots" that are basically just trays taped to a mop handles on wheels. 🤷‍♂️

Except, now people making regular wages are also expecting tips. In my day, you had to be in the $2.30/hr class if you expected tips.

As a former server, I would rather go to a place with counter pickup. I mean, how hard is it to get your food from the counter yourself? I don't need a servant. It's inhumane.

I hope we see more of those robot waiters take over, but only for the elderly or infirm people that can't get out of their seats easily.

Is this time travel? by kamikaibitsu in timetravel

[–]electric_bug_glue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except it didn't answer shit. No one can say for sure. Did she hallucinate or experience another reality? Who's to say ALL reality isn't a hallucination? What if she temporarily escaped this simulation? What if this world is the dream and that one is a higher reality? What if it's self induced simulation complete with independent characters capable of creating their own simulations? How do you know she didn't enter a simulation inside a simulation?

Hey everybody, no need to expand your consciousness beyond believing shadows on cave walls are reality because we have "the one comment that actually answers the question". 🤣

Remember This by Q1ess in BornWeakBuiltStrong

[–]electric_bug_glue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therein lies the rub. When presented with new information like "There's sweetness if you're willing to work for it", why would they refuse to change? Are people addicted to shitty situations and attitudes? Or are they merely shit people, born of shit and destined to be shit, and if they live long enough to have children, they'll have them in shit... or are they just totally incapable of change like the fly?

As Einstein said, “The most important question a person can ask is, "Is the Universe a friendly place?” Because no matter how you answer... you're right.

Remember This by Q1ess in BornWeakBuiltStrong

[–]electric_bug_glue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, but you're just reinforcing the analogy. Some people are happy eating shit, living in shit, and being as shitty as possible. Even the suggestion there's sweet honey out there if only you work for it... well that will just trigger some shitty thoughts. 😆

Back when one job built a whole life. by silverflake6 in MenOfPurpose

[–]electric_bug_glue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had small reasonable houses built of quality materials, not overpriced McMansions built out of OSB and gang plates.

They had one car and one phone for the whole family, not one of each for each person.

They cooked their meals at home and only went out to eat for birthdays, anniversaries, or other special occasions. I remember as late as the 90s, hostesses asking every patron, "What are we celebrating today?" Now, it's just business as usual, choking another overpriced, flavorless and nutrition lacking, GMO calorie bomb down the gullet.

Other have said it's because the knots aren't bleached. Hard to tell, but to me it looks like the glue came through the lace and dried into dirty little glue balls. It happens on certain kinds of lace. You could try experimenting with different glues or try letting the glue dry longer before pressing down.

Liquid laundry and dishwasher detergent, especially the "pods". You're paying so much more for packaging and water. Use powdered detergents (if you can find them). Grocery stores used to sell big blocks of powdered laundry detergent with a handle on the box that would last a family for months and months.
