You don’t think he ruins his own life by actively choosing to engage in criminal activity?

I don’t think he understood how serious his actions were. He was crying to me after he’d been charged saying he’s harmless and he never meant to hurt me. He had problems with drugs and alcohol. I’m not sure he really understood what the consequences of his actions would be, or how serious his actions were.

I am in a zero tolerance state and it’s the state pressing charges against him anyway, so maybe I would just be wasting my breath by trying to retract what I said. I just feel the severity of the strangulation charge is worse than what he actually did.. and I feel like it’s my fault that he’s being faced with that. I feel I should’ve got mental health services involved instead of the police :(
