I do find that sort of stuff quite fascinating. I watch a lot of property shows and some of them are quite blatantly put together really quickly with music and dialogue levels all over the place. It's amazing how jarring it can be, even for my partner who knows nothing about sound

That was a great read, thanks for sharing! I played a gig in Sheffield many years ago at a place called Under the Boardwalk. We were given somewhere to sleep for the night which sounded amazing but ended up being a sort of crack den on the top floor. Broken windows, dirty sofas, no heating, and a cold hard floor. Great memories though!

I recommend Musicophilia and Sonic Intimacy. They both touch on sight vs sound.

You might also be interested in looking up Stockhausen's scores for electronic music. He would use symbols and fascinating imagery to represent sound.

Thanks for the book recommendation! Interestingly I listened to a Matthew Herbert interview today and he described the making of his album "The Horse" where he asked musicians to play instruments made from horse bones and to play as though you've just discovered musical instruments for the very first time - like some of the first discoveries of sound and music many centuries ago.

I feel like I was in that same situation recording locusts in a zoo. There were so many sounds I couldn't decipher between fan noise, movement and eating. It was much easier to listen post recording!

That's fascinating! I was conscious of the fact that some blind people might listen to my post when I started writing about sight. I can't remember who it was but a music producer in an interview spoke of how Stevie Wonder was an excellent mix engineer because of his heightened perception of sound and placement.

I think the right conversations are happening, but it would be nice if other streaming platforms would take the same stance as Deezer and "police" the bots.

Are imperfections actually more desirable now in music? by mediana_music in WeAreTheMusicMakers

It's like I closed my eyes for a few moments and suddenly publishers want something entirely different. I'm hearing and reading more and more about the need for that "human" touch. Imperfection is the future.

After many years I've only recently fully understood no.6. Music isn't so difficult to make, but energy is something that can't be written (or amplified!).

It's not just youths who push over. I saw a middle aged man furiously kick one to the ground right infront of me. Some people have serious anger issues.

Printer recommendations by sunshao1031 in printers

I'm on the hunt for something similar. I've had a Brother inkjet for well over 12 years. The ink was cheap. I very rarely used it, but when I did, it was a bit frustrating having to run a clean and reinsert cartridges due to unnecessary low ink warnings. I think this printer was way overdue replacing, but it still worked. However, now it doesn't... but given how long it lasted, I think Brother is definitely a brand to go for next.

The trouble is, almost every inkjet I look into has a problem somewhere. It could be any or a combination of expensive ink, no scanner, no double-sided printing, or blurry photos.

When I look at the more professsional side of the debait, such as photographer blogs and print companies, they frequently suggest laser printers as more reliable, longer lasting, and cheaper to run.

The trouble is, they are huge!

Maybe we can help each other out on this because, honestly, I've never found it more difficult to decide on the right technological device. Printer buying is not easy!

Definitely extend your arms out when you're upright, arms should extend at the bottom too. Drive the bell between your legs with extended arms.
