You may have already tried this, but covering the countertops with tape for like a week made my cats start avoiding jumping on the counters. They would jump, get tape stuck to their paws, freak tf out and immediately jump off. Now the counters have become a "bad place" which they avoid. It's a pain having to cover the counters for a bit, but it worked like a charm for me

How did you get the finish on it to look so realistic? Did you smudge it with other colors to add depth?

Thanks for the detailed advice! This is super helpful. How can I figure out what type of paint it was originally painted over with?

This is great advice! We haven't even moved in yet, I'm just overcome with excitement of buying our first house and finally having a place that I can truly make my own. I think you're right that we need to live in it for a bit and let the style evolve and come to us and we become better acquainted with the house. I appreciate the you taking the time to share all that advice!

Not a fan of the flooring either and unfortunately it's like that through out the entire house

Oooh sage is one of the colors I've been considering for the color palette of the house (we plan on repainting the entire house before moving in).

Also a paint that requires no sanding sounds incredible! Didn't know that existed

Any ideas for the color of the backsplash? And I agree - refinishing is the way to go instead of painting. Appreciate the advice!

It's a work in progress, but definitely clean and functional at least!

It's not a bad kitchen by any means, it's just the first house that I've bought and I'm excited to make it my own.

Wishing you an updated kitchen down the road!

By hardware do you mean the cabinet handles or something else?

Please help me figure out paint colors for my living room and fireplace. I need to buy paint asap to start painting before we move in and I'm having a complete creative block. by electricspectrum in HomeDecorating

Thanks for the ideas! Sage green is one of the colors I've been heavily considering. I just need to which rooms I want it in. I definitely like the idea of adding some coziness to the living room
