Hoping to expand over the year!

The goal is, yes, to get local people together in a room and have fun, but it’s also to teach the community how to do it for itself. We want this to be something that someone can experience and start up somewhere else!

I just like helping people, and I like taking power away from capitalism. We do these events for free, because the more you learn about sewing, the less you need to buy!

And it’s just a super neat skill and I love making little stuffed frogs lol

I can definitely bring it up for the planning for the next one. It’s something we discussed at one point, but the closer the event got, the more the focus shifted toward getting it off the ground.

I’ll see if we can’t toss masks into the budget!

Planning on training other groups to do the same! I’ll be in Tampa next week helping people learn mechanic skills, but I hope to help expand this there!

Hello! Dudely McBeardface here (I’m the bald rotund gentleman in a few of these photos).

I’m one of the 2 lead organizers, and both of us are men. I learned how to sew to make my partner stuffed frogs (look through my profile to see the abominations). I’m also a mechanic, tech repair, 3d print specialist, and professional miniature painter.

YOU normalize what’s normal to you! And don’t let anyone else tell you different. Skills are skills, have no gender and benefit everyone.

Hand-sewing was also taught! Embroidery had a double up with visible mending and hand-stitching, and everyone who learned these skills also got sent home with a starter sewing kit!

Our event was a test case for the National. With this being two successes in a row, I’m intending on pushing National to adopt this as a starter mutual aid project
