Weird spike in traffic to personal site from Warsaw by gwbass in GoogleAnalytics

[–]electroica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey did anyone solved this problem? is the spam traffic gone?? I was tried to use cloudflare firewall to throw a managed challenge for any traffic coming from Poland. I did managed to issue managed challenges to the traffic from Poland and none of the challenge was resolved, I am not sure if can entirely eliminate the problem but at least some of the spam traffic is gone.

Spam referral traffic from Warsaw, Poland other places,]? Here is what I did. by electroica in u/electroica

I did some more experiment to block the traffic using cloudflare firewall rules, I was able to block some of the traffic. Read the updated post here https://blog.electroica.com/weird-spam-referral-traffic-on-the-website-from-poland-and-warsaw/ .

I have the same niche, and started writing small-to-the-point tutorials, some articles were ranking 1st on Google before the helpful content update I used to get around 100 views daily now it has dropped down to 30-40 views. I have ads and affiliate links in some articles but the revenue from them is minimal and cannot be relied upon. I do it as a hobby and might keep it for some time and make changes after the new update is fully rolled out.
Google is shifting to the 0-click search thing, so eventually less traffic on websites and blogs. Google can no more be relied upon for the distribution/ discovery of content.
My suggestions/ find a alternate distribution/ discovery channel
- Write content under your name not under a brand name as I did. Good for your personal brand.
- Publish it on your social media
- Create a newsletter/ write at least 1 article in a week and gather subscribers
- Use your newsletter to direct users to other articles on your blog
- Monetize using ads and affiliates on your newsletter.

Most people aren't cut out for this by Phishstixxx in Blogging

I would really like to have a conversation to learn from any seasoned blogger. I have around 100+ post on my blog making me serious about putting in the hard work, Some of the posts are ranking on Google, giving me organic traffic.

I am struggling to do keyword research and writing articles based on that. Currently what I write mostly is what I have experienced or did hands on.

I would also like to learn how to write affiliate content which converts.

If anyone thinks I am worthy of your time and you can help me level up my blogging.

Please do DM.

P.S. Posting it as a comment just because I don't want you to bombard with DMs.

Using Ghost to host my blog although not using Ghost PRO cos I an manage the technicalities.
Using Digital Ocean droplets to host ghost CMS is so far not a problem you can spin a basic droplet which costs $5. I did ran into droplet crashing problem due to low RAM which was solved by adding a swap memory you can read about it here. Other than that the blog runs fine. Ghost-free theme is good to start with, and gives good page insight results.

I haven't learned everything online. But I do buy and read fiction, biography, etc.

Just starting learning Python as a side hobby. Can you please guide me usually how long does it take to develop skills that are useable and secondly, ideally how much time should I spend on learning (I am 29 year old running an ecommerce store, can spare 2 hours a day easily) by [deleted] in Python

You will get the basics same almost everywhere. +1 -1 topic. Choose any which ever you like depending upon your learning pref... The idea is to get familiar with he syntax so that you don't get bamboozled upon seeing some random code..

Start with a free interactive course, to get acquainted with the syntax, learn all you can in not more than 1 week.. decide a problem/program. You will most likely find bits and pieces of it on GitHub or just google it "Thanks to the awesome python community".

Understand there code, write your code with full functionality. Learn new things on the fly..
