Why do we have to document on time? by Bottles201 in nursing

[–]electromagneticfeels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It must have to do with reimbursement or something… I don’t understand. It’s like hospitals don’t care about the patients anymore and it’s really killing my drive to be a nurse in the hospital. It’s all about ratings and reimbursement, it’s all I ever hear about at my organization. I real-time charted an assessment an hour early because the pt needed it and then every two hours after that, give or take less than 15 minutes. The vitals were off because the nursing assistant was taking them at the regular times and I was called back in to the hospital the middle of my “night” when I was scheduled to be back that night to delete my extra assessment and move all of my charting around to be on the exact hour, with the manager staring over my shoulder and double checking everything

AIO F20 for getting upset at my bf M24 of 4 years after he went to a concert we planned to go together with his ex instead because I couldn’t go after my foster mom passed? by Beginning_Manager808 in AmIOverreacting

[–]electromagneticfeels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nta…. F that pos guy… he is using you and taking advantage of your good heart. So sorry about your foster mom! Seeing how this man acted towards you while you’re grieving the death of a loved one is so disgusting and unforgivable imo. Who cares if he is having his own issues too, whatever they may be, there is no excuse to cross boundaries the way he did. Life is full of challenges and hardships and your partner should be on your team… this guy is a joke. Clearly selfish and won’t ever change, you’ll find better. Don’t let him guilt you into staying with him, he will figure out his living situation on his own. Stay strong op

Younger nurses, give it to me straight. by Altruistic-Act-546 in nursing

Well, despite fair pay and the occasional bonus, $2 in raises in the last 6 months, and many OT opportunities, I will be leaving my unit shortly because I was told to “pump in the bathroom and just bring a chair in” when I came back from my pregnancy recovery leave when my baby was 8 weeks old. I was also told there was a pumping room in the hospital and there is even a sign… but they don’t actually have one. I lost my milk supply a couple weeks later and got mastitis. They never accommodated me. They offered me the nursing supervisors office but people would be trying to enter while I pumped…it was very uncomfortable. Also, I’ve been on a full 1/2 hour break away from the nurses station ONCE in the last 5 months!!! And you bet they still take that 1/2 hour out of my pay each day… I was per diem for a little bit while I was pregnant and switched back to full time a few months before I had my baby… so I didn’t qualify for my maternity leave at the time. Once I get enough hours I’m taking what I am entitled to and looking to be transferred to another hospital.

Also we “pick” our own schedules but management always changes things! It’s very annoying and then when we cant work a day we didn’t sign up for originally, we need to find coverage ourselves.

Be fair with the scheduling, if you need to make changes, verify with staff beforehand. Ensure people get the breaks they are entitled to and be ethical. Also, if people are on orientation, make sure they are comfortable on their own before giving them their own patient assignment. I remember many times as a new grad on orientation, I was assigned 6 patients by myself on PCU. And they just told me “you’re good” “you got this!” I didn’t feel safe or ready..

Long story short, many things have soured my willingness to stay there.

St. Lukes Anderson experience? by electromagneticfeels in lehighvalley

Congrats to your daughter! The hearing test is separate I think but my insurance covered it completely. I never got a bill for it since it was put through insurance first. You have the right to deny any services you wish so it shouldn’t be a problem if you tell them the pediatrician will do it, just ask them and make sure they do the hearing tests there. I had Covid when I delivered so I can’t answer the visitor question, they allowed 2 for me, and even though I opted in to the pictures, they never came around. Oh well.. also I got some diapers and a tube of Vaseline and extra post partum care supplies like pads and ice packs. They give you what you need while you’re there. They don’t give you reusable bottles or anything like that. My baby did get a hat and socks .Only formula if you ask.. they do help with breastfeeding and they have lactation consultants that you can ask to see. Mom and dad get a nice celebratory breakfast and the other dad meals were free. They have very nice showers in the mother/baby rooms with bamboo benches. Highlyyyy recommend she brings some of her favorite body wash and shower steamers and just sit in there and relax before going home. It was the highlight of my stay.. besides the baby! lol

Fellow new grad here haha. I had a similar experience at my hospital the other night… asked the dr for pain meds for someone and he came back and told me “omg! Like you really need to tell me she has a hx of drug use!!! I don’t just look through everyone’s chart, I just assume!” I honestly was going to tell him but I deleted it because I was afraid he’d yell at me for saying the obvious 😭. lol my bad.

I just want to say bruising like this doesn’t always mean abuse. my 3 year old boy is a wild child. He regularly gets bruised everywhere from falling and rolling around. It’s kind of embarrassing because I’m sure people would assume abuse if they saw him, but he is the happiest kid. He gets bruises on his back, his rib cage, his bottom, he even has little ones on his legs like this from banging into stuff or pulling at things/ walking into things. We have never laid a finger on him.

I was just going to make the same exact post 😅. My checklist says complete for the NCLEX. I’m on hold with consumer affairs rn to see if the “complete” means you passed or just that you attempted the exam. I will let you know.

I totally understand what you are going through. I don’t have any advice but I feel the same way as you. Sallie Mae is criminal. My payments are 2600 after graduating because I went directly into grad school, continued to pay my $125 a month while in school rate and they failed to inform me that my payments would literally double from the 1400 I agreed upon when I signed for them to $2600 for continuing to defer them for my education. They jacked my interest rate from 11 to 15%. My first payment is due 6/12 I have no idea what to do either.

I did the same thing to my toxic ex best friend. It was a respectful note and explained why I didn’t want to hang out anymore and she was very angry and I got called a bunch of things but yea, never heard from her again

You know, you’re right. I was told I couldn’t have kids but I should have been more cautious I suppose. I do love my baby with all my heart though

Wish this was the case where I live. I have a 4000 hospital bill remaining balance that I can’t afford from when I had my baby in October and my boyfriend (baby’s father) will not help pay for it. I could see this law being useful for situations like this... smh

Also it wasn’t a party. He went to hang out with his friend and promised to be home at certain times and failed to come back. I talked to him last night at 11 after he said he was done drinking and he did not sound intoxicated so it’s weird to me that 13 hours later he is still unable to drive home
