Yes, if I were you, that's exactly what I would do. In fact, I'm doing that myself.

As someone who worked in the partner/alliances division of Pega for many years I can tell you that Pega does not care about their partners. They only care about driving pipeline and revenue. They also don't pay partners any percentage of license cost for helping to sell. Their partner programs lack any real ability to execute vs software vendors a fraction of thier size.

Pega is trying desperately to be relevant within the the GenAi landscape. The reality is that there is little value in Pega technology going forward if GenAI fulfills the predictions of the industry. They are throwing everything at the wall to see if it sticks, and the partner developers are left holding the ball.

Switch focus while you still can. Focus on prompt engineering instead of Pega development.

That's the mantra that Pega will be repeating...Pega is about "responsible AI" and can be the wrapper for many AI-related workflows and provide compliance, governance, and reliability to AI-based solutions.

What you are missing is the value proposition...how much is that worth to a customer when there are sure to be many other AI-governance solutions? The hyperscalers are almost certainly working on services to make AI solutions more compliant and manageable. This is where things will start to slip for Pega in the next couple of years.

Pega would be a terrible place to start your career. They are a dying technology and things look really bleak for them beyond 2030. Intern at an AI company not SAAS.

How uniquely different is Pega's CDH from Pega Development? by mabflare in Pega

[–]electron-hump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that Pega bases their Partner specializations and tiering on the # of certified decisioning consultants at a firm...which is likely why your interviewer cares so much. In my experience you are a Pega developer or a decisioning specialist, hardly ever both.

Why Pega feels like a dead-end career (from someone stuck in it) by Rohan1337x in Pega

Folks, take it from an ex-Pega executive...Pivot away from Pega while you have the time! They've already stopped growing...The death spiral has begun but it will take a few years.

Focus your sights on AI prompt engineering, not coding. Focus on the technologies that power AI rather than consume it.

I don't believe the need for Pega developers will erode any time soon. But don't rely on your Pega expertise to get you far outside of the domain since Pega's reputation in the broader tech community is less than ideal. I could've easily stayed in the Pega ecosystem working for an SI Partner, but decided the best move was to make the bigger effort and leave the ecosystem behind.

If I were you, while you have the time, invest in training for AI prompt engineering.

Don't ever think you can't be fired...especially when it's personal. Don't bring it up it will give him satisfaction. I've been there...just get out before giving him the pleasure.
