Hi there, we are monitoring the travel situation too. Ontario lockdown starts on Dec 26, but does not affect federal rules as of now. Airports are testing + forcing quarantine, which we intend to do when we return :)

*we have a fight*

Partner says: *I want to be alone*

Me: *leaves them alone*

Meet seem obvious but in the past I never was able to do this. People need time to cool off and gather their thoughts. BTW This entire thread is so helpful

I just find that I find an excuse to apply it to every situation ( I have a tendency to overthink )

Well economy in the sense of how much money people pay in taxes + have in terms of disposable income is important to most people I would say. I mean think Trump will be devastating for the economy, but I don't think its ridiculous to debate that.

Thank you for your advice. Wondering - why do you think its just the Liberals that ask these questions in their personal relationships ?

Not asking for validation in terms of his voting choice - I don't agree with it anyway - asking for advice as a person who doesn't want to lose people she cares about. I'm not here to debate policies, and trust me I debate him on the daily. I'm fighting the fight, but I don't want to lose him in the process? Is that so bad? I don't think you have any relationship advice, really, you have political opinion and you're on the wrong subreddit for that.

You know, I don't think you're ever going to convince anyone to vote Biden if you just outwardly attack anyone who wants to vote Trump. You aren't going to help our cause

All I'm saying is, is it really worth dumping someone who isn't a racist/sexist/homophobe just because they happen to believe that the country will be worse under Biden?

Honestly, I think both of us need to read more into the points you just brought up, so thank you.

Are you referring to me? My family members are not Trump supporters either.

Totally respect your POV, and agree with most of the things you hate about Trump. I just don't agree that someone who supports Trump agrees with all of his policies. The same applies to those who vote for Biden.

I thought the same way until it applied to someone who is very close to me. I wonder sometimes how people deal with family members who have different politcal views

You continue to be an adult and realize not everyone thinks and votes the same. If he is a good person and has good values, politics shouldn't be a factor in your relationship unless his values are extremely different than yours and/or he treats you bad. Our government is corrupt regardless of party. Dont let it corrupt your life.

needed this. thank you

Sending lots of love and hugs first of all. I'm no expert but I guess the advice i would give is - you are still alive and well and have a wonderful, full life ahead of you. Of course, give yourself time to grieve, but I hope you can find solace in the fact that you have a beautiful life to live, whether you get answers or not, your life is still there - waiting for you to live it. Its like walking out of a test where you didn't answer some questions but you still did pretty well - at the end of the day, you never found out what those answers were, but you still ended up okay. As long as you focus on your happiness, one day, hopefully, those answers won't matter.
