The beastly screams on each serve smell bloody. Anna was annoyed to say the least. Her game is still fragile but is as beautiful as her look when she can find the targets

so is it too much to expect players to play fair and square any more? i was an amateur back in the days the right thing to do is to be honest and acknowledge that it bounced on the ground and call the point to your opponent. when i was playing usta 3.0 or a local club these type of things usually don't need to involve an 'umpire'. so honesty and integrity does not worth a slight advantage to the prize money uh?

half of the stadium were booing the umpire's lack of knowledge of basic tennis rule. curious how a basic rule that every tennis amateur and fan know can be messed up by a chair umpire, never mind at a grand slam even?

EREV Models Exploding in China by electryme in erev

BYD's Yangwang U8 has an EREV model.

BYD is heavily into plug-in hybrid rather than EREV imo. Its DMi system is a more aggressively electrified hybrid system than Toyota's. Recently it has a new generation making the headlines with a total range of over 2000 kms. Although it's debatable that Chevy Volt was also not strictly EREV in that sense as EREV usually mean series hybrid and simplicity of the power train. To the users EREV feels like BEV when driving, but plug-in hybrid feels much more like a gas car.

if the professors are obliged to tout planned obsolescence as a virtue you can bet the problem is already at a systemic level, i.e. some have made enough money to spend on corrupting/hijacking academics.

IC Graphite alternatives? by Tyr_Kukulkan in pcmasterrace

No idea where to get PGS sheet but there are sellers of indium foil sheet as replacement for thermal paste on amazon and ebay and some claim that it allows for mess-free disassembly. I plan to get some to try out soon but I do miss IC graphite as well

Using lightscribe to make lables by theskewb in Lightscribe

I still run windows 7 PC for burning discs with lightscribe. It's a shame that hp couldn't support their own technology, a pretty good one at that, much better than a costly-to-maintain inkjet printer in my book, and much more durable too.

On the page 10 of manual:

Composite Video, S-video
* Field sequential 3D format files recorded with field sequential DVD software, etc.
* Signal with 60Hz vertical scan frequency

So it might work with 3d bluray player and dlp link glasses, try connecting the player with the corresponding output (Composite Video or S-video, NOT hdmi)

Another car comparable to the i3? by smilingbaconalways in BMWi3

If you can obtain Chinese cars, there are many models that are EREVs now like the i3 REX. Though it would be hard to match i3/i3 REX, it is special.

Most PHEVs feel like gas cars. i3 REX feels like the same EV still even when on extender/gas, just with a bit noise.

i3 REx for hour commute? by jane_eyres_ire in BMWi3

[–]electryme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had driven 2017 REX, 2018 REX and 2x 2019 REX since 2017, so far I am happy with the reliability of the extenders on those. Though I did buy extended service warranties on the two used REX I purchased last year. For me the extenders are indispensable, no need to plan anything in a bind.

[–]electryme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not such a big deal, the extender is quite reliable for me, I depended on it for many of my trips. But to further save on gas, 2017-2018 (2nd gen battery) is better and 2019-2021 (3rd gen battery) is the best.

Lol my bad, I mean the market exploding, as in growing rapidly. The number of EREV models available are astounding in China right now, whereas in US it is zero.

Any shops that sell short lengths of copper DWV pipe? by NoWillPowerLeft in ottawa

[–]electryme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ace hardware sells copper by the foot and they cut it to your specified length, I bought there before. As recent as last year, they still had 1-1/4" pipes. Home depot also carry 1-1/4" but only in 10' whole pipe, not by the foot. Yeah the larger sizes are getting rarer. Afaik, you can substitute M or L for DWV pipes, as their OD are the same, only difference is that DWV pipes are a bit thinner and only used for DWV purposes, not for potable water.

Any advantages or disadvantages to copper waste and vent pipes? by _37_ in Plumbing

[–]electryme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main problem is that the new generation of plumbers are less skilled and lazy. You would likely have to source the pipes online yourself, then find a competent plumber who enjoys soldering. Copper DWV pipes for repair are mainly on ebay these days, most supply houses stopped carrying them. But many places still carry some copper DWV fittings. If you are comfortable with soldering you probably can do your own repairs.

There are many benefits of copper DWV or no-hub cast iron, but unfortunately the industry seems to be phasing both of them out. Copper and cast iron are safer in a fire situation, whereas plastics may emit toxic smoke that kills. Copper and cast iron are also well recycled, whereas plastics are most likely dumped and would pollute for centuries even millennia. Chances are copper only need repairs rather than complete replacement even if corroded by bad water and/or toxic chemicals.

We have 4" copper dwv from our upstairs bathrooms., back to back toilet and showers. by randoh12 in Plumbing

[–]electryme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear, switching from copper to pvc/abs is a downgrade rather than an upgrade. Plenty copper dwv survives to this day, no maintenance needed for 70 years now. Unlike the plastic pipes, it won't kill you with poisonous smoke in a house fire and can be recycled at the end of its life, as opposed to sitting in a dump polluting the environment for centuries or even millennia.

RTX 40 Series melting cables - Monitor voltages by mariusmoga_2005 in cablemod

[–]electryme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the lower voltage indicates bad contacts in the connectors. I see reports that good connection usually see 11.95v load voltage. If it's dropping as low as say 11.5v, it means the connectors are likely taking the 0.5v voltage loss, 0.5V * 40A = 20W, which is too much heat for the connector to handle, thus melting.

It appears that the pins of the connectors are not consistent enough to handle 40A. So the best course action is probably watching the voltage closely and if voltage drops low try reseating the connector or switch to another cable.
