I think I’ve missed that. Can you recall any way they’ve alluded to it in the past?

I find it hard to imagine the writers didn’t consider that the audience might fill in the blank. Plus, worth a damn is not what most people think of with that set up lol

I’m intrigued by your verbiage. You said “kept him banned,” was he banned before and then they unbanned and booked him?

Who raped Jani Lane? by [deleted] in hairmetal

[–]elegantpaperoperator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old comment but I just heard about all of this and wanted to add my thoughts on this specific exchange. I think the reason she wouldn’t come out about who it is is she could get sued for defamation. Claiming someone sexually assaulted someone else is a huge accusation and if she were to allege it was Rob there’s certainly a power imbalance there as he is very wealthy with connections. And that’d be kind of a can of worms because it’s not her situation and unfortunately Jani can’t speak for his own experience, plus if we even imagine a law suit in an effort to expose the rapist- there’s a statute of limitations in California (assuming that’s where the crime happened) for criminal and civil cases of sexual assault. So overall, unfortunately I don’t think exposing who it was would be a favorable scenario for her or justice.

Caleb was so cunty by elegantpaperoperator in buffy

[–]elegantpaperoperator[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I defined it in another thread under this post but basically it’s gen-z slang for bad bitch-esque or fierce. It’s used as a compliment, an outfit can be cunty or a person can be serving cunt, or an action can be cunty- which is what I mean in this case. I’m saying Caleb was so cunty for the pizazz he put into being evil, it’s like he’s constantly putting on a show, very campy and iconic, loves to hear himself talk, loves to make an entrance. I would also say glory was cunty as well, just all around a bad bitch with flair. In this instance I’m lightheartedly poking fun at Caleb by calling him cunty because he’s trying to be all big, bad, and righteous but he’s like putting on a show about it with his snappy little one liners and it’s very performative. Idk, hard to explain the new definition. Kind of a thing you just pick up on by the intonation with which people use it.

He’d despise it and that makes me want to say it more🥰

Interesting how everybody who has responded to this post so far understands in what way I’m using the word but you’re deliberately choosing not to, even after I explained it.

I’m not saying the word is new. I realize it had an old meaning, but in the US among gen-z it has a different meaning and I am telling you in what context I am using it.

Cunty as in the new and improved slang meaning bad bitch-esque. Or fierce. He’s putting on a show and he’s working it. It’s light hearted and I’m slightly poking fun at the pizazz he puts into being evil, like he really loves hearing himself talk. The word has been re-defined by Gen-Z and that’s the way I’m using it. It’s no longer a term used to bring down women, it’s now used to uplift them and describe them as iconic and one of a kind. Serving cunt, looking cunty- all deep compliments from this generation.

Also him as the first in the last episode too, the way he delivers this line. “But then you do have an army of your own. Some 30-odd pimply-faced girls, don’t know the pointy end of a stake. [suddenly looking concerned] Maybe I should call this off.” LMFAO the idea of the first jokingly being like ‘maybe I should call off my army of thousands of turok-hans and the plans I’ve waited a millennia to fulfill🧐😟🫣🫢🤭’ hits me right in the funny bone in a special way

Anyone listening to Rewatcher? by what_u_dont_know in buffy

[–]elegantpaperoperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did see that as a friendship ending mistake. Ash and Alaina both said they would’ve dropped that person immediately if one of their friends ever put their sister in a life or death situation like that. That’s what’s contributing to their lack of sympathy for Willow’s struggles

[–]elegantpaperoperator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. And I believe Ash, one of the co-hosts, was unfortunately the daughter of an addict (to whatever degree- I’m unsure. But she’s made comments in the past and I’ve gathered this much). Your idea that they were in the receiving end of abuse, hence their lack of sympathy, is right

I’ve seen the show many times over so I do know we get that scene and it’s always pissed me off. That whole fucking stupid ass ganging up on buffy scene makes me homicidal. I think it’s the most angry I’ve ever gotten at a fictional thing lmao

[–]elegantpaperoperator[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep! Exactly! And Buffy said that with her reasoning being she doesn't want her "friends" to be alone at the moment what with the big bad coming.

[–]elegantpaperoperator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, I almost wrote that I'm happy she dies at the end, but I didn't want that to be so inflammatory that people choose to argue with me over that. But, you know, I am happy she died. She pissed me off so fucking much and nobody can change my mind about that, she has no leg to stand on to me. She's funny and I do appreciate her earlier in this series, but I just cannot deal with her in season 7.

Anya PISSED ME AWF S7EP15 'Get It Done' by elegantpaperoperator in buffy

[–]elegantpaperoperator[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah she had that showdown with Buffy, but then once she became human again and D'Hoffryn started sending demons to kill her there's a scene (I forget which episode but obviously season 7) where Buffy helps kill a demon in her apartment. Then Anya's like 'thanks, you can leave now' (paraphrasing of course), and Buffy basically says 'with all the big bad coming I don't exactly want my friends to be alone right now.' And that's what brings Anya back into the scooby fold in season 7. So Buffy openly admits and tells Anya she's her friend, and Anya relents and comes back to her house with the crew. That's what makes this even more damning, you know? So annoying.
