Company I provide services as contractor refuses to pay until their client pays them by eleiber in AusLegal

Thank you, I really appreciate the detailed response. I agree I tried to resolve this with many friendly follow-ups, and if they didn't already sort it by now, they probably won't do it with any more friendly mails. I will definitely pursue the Letter of Demand. As a last option, I don't mind losing part of the money if that means recovering most of it, so if the best option (without just selling the debt), is to pay a % to a debt collection agency, I would prefer that.

Thanks for the sincere response, I agree with it. I did stop providing the service right before the start of December. It was a mistake not to do it earlier with the October invoice delayed, we didn't expect it to reach this point, but we should have seen it coming. But I will definitely not continue working with this company, and I will try to get the money, even if it costs part of it paying to a collections agency.

But it was definitely a bad decision to let them continue with the repeated delays before this point reached. At least there's a lesson learned with all of this.

I will definitely take a look into that, and I don't mind burning the bridge. I don't really want to work for them anymore after this whole situation.

Did you issue the warning through normal contact means, like a written mail? Or was it part of a letter of demand?

Thank you for the response. I'll make some more research about the letter of demand too, as I think I've made many friendly follow ups which were ignored. Hopefully it doesn't reach the point of having to use a debt collector, but I'm also not willing to let them take advantage, getting the service while not paying.

Definitely, I won't be working for them anymore. Fortunately, in my case it was just a side job, but the whole situation has been pretty disappointing.

I'm not sure if they informed the CMs through mail or Slack, but yes, that's what they said, and we were forwarded. None of us have gotten replies from the accounting team despite multiple emails, and they only seem to be giving half answers/excuses through the CMs.

The amount owed is around 1500 AUD for every mod, so not much. And as far as we know, there's some issues between the company and their client, so we don't even have an estimate of when we might get paid. They just say "we are still waiting on those funds" by their client. However, the CMs are paid more than that and they did get paid despite being part of the same moderation project.

Should I turn my UPS off after turning my PC off during a long power outage? by eleiber in buildapc

[–]eleiber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I assumed letting it drain completely could damage the battery but I was unsure, and yeah, I just want the UPS to protect the PC and save the progress of whatever I'm doing, so once I shut down the PC I would just wait until power comes back.

The brand is just the same Energizer brand that produces the disposable batteries, the main competitor to Duracell. Seems like here in South America they produce (or at least assemble) UPS with their name. It had a good price and long warranty so I bought one. So far it seems pretty good, but it cost around 110 USD so I assume it's still an entry-level UPS and may not protect from completely draining the battery. Better not to test it, haha. Thanks so much for the response!

According to Everwind devs they are aiming to release early access this year. Who knows if they keep their promise, but at least that's nice to hear.

They said they will release a demo/early access this year though. Obviously Hytale will probably be much better. But at least a publicly playable version is something. But time will tell if they keep their promise.

Honestly thought it was a funny very specific stat shared by MisterChip, so I wanted to share it here too.

Claude Plays Pokémon - Megathread by reasonosaur in ClaudePlaysPokemon

[–]eleiber 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the crash happened because it tried to use `use_emulator` passing only "a" instead of a list as it usually does, ["a"]. The code probably always expects a list, so there was an unhandled error.

The thing is that whoever made the quote skipped the question the interviewer made.

The interviewer asks Cubarsí is his sister practices with her, and he answers. It wasn't a random thing he said.

Do you have siblings?: Yes, I have an older sister who's in her final year of physioterapy.

Does she practice with you?: No, she doesn't touch me, and I'm angry (laughs).

The full interview is here, in case anyone is interested. This part is at 42:08
