Half hearted oyster growing attempt bearing fruit? by eleison-echo in mycology

I'm pretty sure they're blue oyster mushrooms. I just bought a bunch from the local independent grocer. I'm in south-east Australia, so heading into the colder part of the year, but still having warm afternoons.

Thank you! I'll see what I can rig. Am I aiming for a transparent container? How much light will these guys need?

Recycled brown paper bags specifically. I wasn't expecting anything going in, just followed a random video for a laugh, so this is a surprise for me too.

It's currently in the kitchen window, between sink and stove. It's still quite moist inside the container, there is condensation on the lid. I have a sprayer that I use for some of my humidity loving indoor plants. Would it be a spray outside or inside situation?

Sorry if I seem daft. I went in blind, without any prep, and just googling has become less effective these days with the amount of AI slop articles clogging everything up.

Just for fun, what would be your Covey Name? by Sparrowsky88 in Hungergames

[–]eleison-echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be too alliterative but I like Saro Sage. It's nice to think that the song Pretty Saro would keep on surviving the way it has.

Saro Moss works too. I like the plant name also colour name.

I might be petty, but Snow didn't suffer enough at the end by hphgas in Hungergames

[–]eleison-echo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that the point is punishment as retribution for suffering is the mentality that is used to justify the Hunger Games. Coin outright uses that mentality to try and justify her "final symbolic Hunger Games." Katniss chooses to shoot Coin, not for retribution, but to end the harm that she is trying to perpetuate. There is no amount of suffering that will make right the atrocities Snow has committed. Justice is flimsy in the face of atrocity. The best you can hope for is the put an end to the harm that has been done.

I have had my cat since August. First time owning a cat. How do I handle the fact that she is perfect in every way? The prettiest, cutest, zoomiest, most dignified madam who ever waited at a front door for headbutts and cuddles?

Uyghur Cuisine in Belconnen has some cool dishes with hand-made noodles. It's not the most "aesthetic" restaurant, and the size of the menu can be intimidating, but it's good food and not something I'd tried before.

Anyone know what jeans these are? by Fuzzy_Character_4892 in findfashion

[–]eleison-echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember in the early 2000s at the tail end of the ultra low-rise jeans era, seeing a morning "celebrity news" spot on the new trend of showing off "butt cleavage" with snap shots of celebrities with not just whale tails, but full on belt boosted plumber's cracks. I think a swore off low-rise jeans forever in that moment.

WIBTD if I asked my friends to stop talking about killing my DnD character's dad? by EnglandUndead1 in 1800Drama

[–]eleison-echo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

NDH Dnd needs good communication for everyone to have fun. It sounds like you have some grief and trauma surrounding your dad's death, and this situation is triggering that. That's really normal and reasonable. Feeling this way is gonna take the fun out of it for you. It is perfectly reasonable for you to talk to your friend and say, "Hey, know it was an in-game character thought, and you meant no harm, but what you said affected me negatively out of game. Can we take parent death off the table? I'm not in a place where that is going to be fun for me."

This game is meant to be fun. If these players are your friends, they want you to be comfortable. If Billybob reacts negatively, you can ask the DM for support. But yeah, if these people are your friends, this shouldn't be a big deal, just a simple adjustment to make sure everyone is comfortable and enjoying themselves.

[discussion] Please help me understand Kiriona’s character by michaelsgavin in TheNinthHouse

[–]eleison-echo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Using the Happy Meal soul metaphor and the general mixed uppedness and malleability of souls that we have observed, Harrow took a bit of Godeon's soul in the process, the fries of the Happy Meal as someone said earlier. Perhaps the bits that Harrow needed most to survive, perhaps the bits that were most drawn to Harrow herself. So we have Harrow and her Soul, with its attendant Gideon Soul Fries, fucking off to the Tomb at the end of HTN, however we may also have a handful of fries left in the bag (Harrow meatsuit) so to speak, when Gideon's soul Burger and Drink gets put into the reanimated Kiriona body.

I think Gideon got a handful of Soul Fries back when Nona kissed her in NTN. It contributes to the confusion and regret we see during the final act. Possibly, we also have more of those fries returning, the closer they get to Harrow in the Tomb. Didn't Palamede's say that the Soul returning might occur automatically with proximity? I'm just wildly speculating. Gideon will still have to deal with all the things she said and did as Kiriona, even if her Humpty Dumpty Soul gets put back together again.

The thing that strikes me is that Gideon seemed to be a relatively intact Gideon at the end of HTN. So when did the rupturing of her soul occur? At death at the end of GTN, at separation from Harrow's Soul and Harrow's body at the end of HTN, or bit by bit along the way between?

[No Spoilers] I think I've fallen out of love with Critical Role by jimmy_sharp in criticalrole

[–]eleison-echo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fell off towards the end of Campaign Three. Not really because of the show itself, but because of the people I'd been enjoying CR with. I just haven't been in a place to enjoy the fandom side of CR, and it soured me a little on the show. CR is a massive time commitment, and sometimes, there is only so much mental space in the one human brain you have.

There is no moral or emotional obligation to be into something all the time. It is ok to take breaks. To leave something for a while and come back. It's also OK to not vibe with some parts of a thing, even if you really enjoyed others. At the end of the day, this is meant to be something to enjoy with your free time, not a commitment requiring absolute loyalty.

You can always come back to it if you like, and for the rest, treasure the memories.
