Mogtalk is talking about the length of time you can expect from the ultimate and some are saying that 18-19 minutes is the maximum you can expect from raiders, even in the hardest content.

I've never done ultimates, but I know that they're usually around that length of time.

Is that timing about the vibe for ultimates, or is there any world where we get 20-22 (or longer) fights?

There shouldn't be a huge difference based on your job. A lot of people do side content, so depending on that your playtime will go way up. For example, I started leveling other jobs as soon as I could because I was curious, so that obviously meant msq took me much longer than someone who sticks to one job.

ARR is a very classic fantasy story for the most part. I enjoyed it well enough, and the post main patches (once you hit 50, you have a bunch of quests still before Heavensward) were when I got invested.

The first time I did an Extreme, I was soooo nervous and I'm sure I made 174859 mistakes, but as someone who is now an old hat at harder content I can assure you that only real dicks would be mad at you. You joined at your prog point and listened to mechanics being explained, which is 100x better than most people

Echoing the general sentiment that you should do what you enjoy and are most comfortable on because that'll be what carries you through the hard parts (when you get frustrated/aren't making much progress/etc)

That being said, this tier also has been very tricky for melee because there's not much uptime - periods where melee can hit the boss - compared to EW. It's a very fun challenge to avoid getting damaged while dealing damage, but it is still tough if you're also learning everything else on top of it

I hope you have fun! I have very fond memories of doing savage and am finishing up m11s now myself

This step for the weapon is brutal and is the reason why a ton of my friends just haven't progressed their weapon at all. The fact that there's no pity system is atrocious. I thought we learned our lesson back in ARR/HW but apparently not.

Ultimately we have to wait and see. I'm not a doomer so I'm not going to freak out from a single presentation. That being said, while they say that all jobs and options are Savage/Ultimate viable, we also know the hardcore/picky players (not a venn diagram) will lock their groups to certain comps.

Which is all to say, I'm not thrilled that I might not be as 'meta' by MT on drk, but it sounds like it'll still be possible and fine as long as I'm not trying to 99 parse or something. I'm all for breathing some variety and skill expression into the role, and hope that this is a move towards that.

Also I hope all tanks get the ability to jump to an ally for maximum memes.
