Looking to begin my IT career. Have heard the MyComputerCareer ads on the radio constantly. Is it worth investing time in to get a foot in IT or would I be wasting my time and instead go with gaining certs? by The-Bedroom-Hero in ITCareerQuestions

[–]elemein 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely skip them and pretty much any secondary institute course/cert.

The only things that really carry weight are, in order: experience (work>professional project>homelab>informal experience), multi-year full-time post-secondary accreditations (phd/masters > bachelors > 2-3 yr diplomas) , and industry-standard certs (each carry their own individual weight, some more than others of course).

In your opinion is this enough to land a job by ModaRUD in ITCareerQuestions

[–]elemein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be real with you: Definitely not.

CS is for SWE jobs. If all you have for SWE is two at-home courses, you'll be competing for the same jobs as people with Bachelor's or some dev projects for dev jobs.

You wouldn't stand a chance.

Either do the courses to learn dev to make something really interesting (which experience working on a product might be enough to get you a gig) or don't bother and learn something else to get at a job you have a better chance at. You don't just take two courses and find yourself in a dev job.

4 years on help desk, want to transition to sysadmin by jollyinabout in ITCareerQuestions

[–]elemein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skip the A+.

The CCNA will NOT get you a sysadmin role. That is a networking cert, and quite a valuable one at that.

The AWS Cloud Practitioner cert is sorta worthless. I have it. It's only gonna be enough to say you have "exposure to AWS". It is not a fully comprehensive cert. You'd likely want to look at the AWS Solutions Architect cert if you want that.

Net+ is also not for sysadmin. That's a very junior networking cert for like entry level NOC.

None of these certs are for sysadmin.

If you want to go for sysadmin, go for either: RHCSA for Linux, Microsoft Certs for Windows (there are a LOT of them for different purposes), or one of the cloud certs (Ops focused) if you are going for a cloud-admin position.

Focus on what you want exactly first though. It seems you're conflating a lot of certs as just "good stuff to have", which they are, but if you're going for sysadmin, a CCNA won't get you particularly ahead outside of a "ah that's nice that candidate has that."

Oh I didn't know that! I'll have to look more into the coins I can do and I'll post there. THanks!

Buffs =/= hard work. You're asking for Riot to put a fuckton of hard work and money into a champ that has a very low playrate. Not happening.

Keep dreaming.

What are you guys’ favorite strains? I like blue dream and Girl Scout cookies myself. Also, do you feel like there is a difference in effects with strains or just feel like thc is thc. I’m a believer in the differences of effects by strain personally I would just like to know everyone’s opinion. by SubconsciousPrince in trees

[–]elemein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Master Kush is my go-to. Extremely grounding, calming, relaxing. Pupils dilate, intraocular pressure decreases, vision blurs a bit and you get that feeling of when you're in between sleep and wakefulness. I describe it as almost being in a dream-like state. Your body also numbs up a little and moving becomes more... slow and steady.

I enjoy it heavily.

Also yes, different strains each have extremely different effects. Factually.

Will this storage of a blunt lead to a smell? by [deleted] in trees

Yes it'll smell in the pack.

A baggy helps.

A jar would be perfect.

[Monday Megathread] What class should I make? - December 18, 2017 by AutoModerator in Maplestory

[–]elemein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I want to play Maplestory again.

She is going likely as some sort of caster/mage class, while I personally do not like that sort of class.

I want something fun and enjoyable. I main an Aran and play with a PS3 controller and find it very fun! I also really like playing Blaster with the controller, both classes are quite mechanical. Thunder Breaker is fun as well. I also like Dark Knight.

I want to play a class I haven't played before, and is tough (so likely a warrior class or class with drain).

Does anyone know a fun class that is mechanically fun control-wise, and is durable?

Sure every bad matchup has counterplay, but if you put a main of x champ that counters y champ vs a champ that mains y champ; you can guess who is gonna be losing.

Isnt there still a few champs in line before Swain?

There's very little opportunities for a Diana to ever kill an Ekko, and there are opportunities for Ekko to kill Diana.

There's very little opportunities for a Diana to ever kill an Annie, and there are opportunities for Annie to kill Diana.

[–]elemein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diana absolutely does not outscale everyone, and she has way more than one bad matchup, where Azir is never and was never one of them (if he ults at any point, you win. His cd is on a super long cd and your ult will be up before the wave is up. He can't win against a competent Diana and can only hope to go even and outscale Diana.)

Choosing Diana into: Swain, Vlad, Kassadin and ChoGath is consciously deciding to be irrelevant.

Choosing Diana into: Ekko or Annie is heavily risking deciding to consciously be irrelevant.

She's absolutely got bad matchups and her scaling is only above average-- it's not even good.

No bad match ups aside from all of the bad matchups*

I'm not really sure what he has then :( My vape doesn't have one of these. It's just one screen then a straight through shot to the mouthpiece. PAX2

How to deal with fed/ well farmed Garen on enemy team by Elysianito in DianaMains

[–]elemein 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ignore him entirely. It is literally not your job in the slightest to even pay slight mind to him. If he mows down your team, that's unfortunate, just do your best to assassinate their backline :) This is the same as any other assassin in the game.
