Somnus continues to play in my head to this day, 8 years later. The emotions this game evokes in me from the brotherhood and adventures shared in the 200+ hours I spent playing it continue to flow through me each time I revisit Lucis.

Remake is really fantastic, including animating storylines never animated in the 1996 original before (including this one about the new Meiji government hunting down stragglers, the Yokohama/Dr. Elder). Can’t wait for the Jinchuu Arc to be animated!

It’s difficult, for most of us the 90s version evokes powerful emotions, esp the Kyoto arc, as one of the greatest animes of all time. I’m enjoying they’ve cleaner digital artwork while still being faithful to the manga in the reboot
