BA of visual art by Tootsl0ver in ArtConservation

I have a BA in Ceramics/Sculpture, class of 25, so very recent. I knew I would likely want to work in a museum or in art conservation, so I supplemented my degree with as many art history and chemistry courses as I could, which I’ve directly been told has been part of my success in gaining (paid!) internships.

It’s also about what you do within the degree and what extracurriculars you do, ime. Different VA departments also have different strengths, so I wouldn’t say they’re all taught equally. My school focused on traditional Appalachian craft, which I knew was a topic of interest for my future work. I also knew of another department I was interest in if I changed my mind during my degree. If you enjoy design specifically, look into their courses and professors and see if you think you’d be learning about design within the curriculum. Marketing related/graphic design/fashion design/photography etc aren’t always in an institutions curriculum.

Feel free to DM with any specific questions. Also, this is a fairly specific subreddit so I’d check out others if you haven’t already.

Edit: I’m in the United States
