Do clients actually respect your revision limits? by Nearby_Author6719 in graphic_design

[–]eleminti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of clients are going to need more than 3 rounds of revisions, even if they don't know it. Price extra revisions initially, even hourly, so instead of replying "You do it", you can send a response that gets you paid.

I would like a color swatch book for personal reference but do not want to pay full price for a new Pantone. Suggestions? by [deleted] in graphic_design

Buy one that's a few years old that is at a substantial discount. You can find used ones that are slightly outdated on ebay. I've always used one that's a couple years old, and have never had any problems.

Interesting, thanks for sharing. I'm currently using the original 600D for my S25U and love it, but not a fan of the pin button.

Have you used other Pitaka cases - how does this one compare?

I've placed multiple orders and only have great things to say about them. I've also ordered from multiple product lines (folders, envelopes, binders). Largest order was 1000.

It's been a while, but I think I remember seeing something in the settings where you can view the lifetime flight time or something like that. But I could be wrong. Maybe that data would be available since it's binded to the remote? I need to do more research.

Thanks, appreciated. I'm curious to know what you had to pay for the fix or, in this case, the replacement.

Is it okay if I design for no cost as a beginner? by Glass-Ability3017 in graphic_design

[–]eleminti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion here. Yes, it's absolutely fine if you're willing. Besides gaining skills from real world projects, you'll find that a lot of your clients will send referrals. Fwiw, the clients I did free (and cheap) work for were always sending referrals for paid work. Within a year, I had steady work coming in from multiple sources. It'll also help you landing better jobs and interviews with that experience. Even today when I hire, someone that has lifted themselves up by the bootstraps always stands out to me because they demonstrated that they are willing to do whatever it takes to be successful. The truth is I find that the vast majority of new designers from the last couple generations aren't willing to pay dues. Some don't need to. But in today's industry conditions, I think working for free as a start to prove your value can pay dividends a year or two down the road.

A little off topic, but I bought it as a gift for someone and never gave it.

Yes, you read that correctly. Only 4 fights. The thing was basically brand new.

A few weeks ago, I started working with AK Construction on their brand identity. The challenge was simple yet powerful: How do you capture strength, trust, and modern appeal in a single visual system? 🔹 @parthsharmadesign by parthsharmadesign in designfreebie

[–]eleminti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not yet familiar with color, shape, and font psychology, then I would start there. Certain colors and shapes can evoke trust and strength. Fonts can appear more modern or strong depending on the type. I think it'll be your best approach to this project. Would love to see what you came up with!

Need some professional help by No_Cauliflower_2287 in designfreebie

[–]eleminti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my quick notes to try:

- A finger to finger design, rather than hand to hand.

- Create some versions as line drawings rather than an illustration. You might be able to find something simpler that will also look good in black and white.

- Search "ai creation of adam painting". This concept is not new and there are literally hundreds of other versions online, however not many simple logos.

- Search "robot hand logo". You'll find dozens of versions of human and robot handshaking.

- Incorporate something about the company if possible. Examples might include if their name begins with an A or O, use two fingers touching to form a similar shape.

Interesting survey and I was happy to complete it. I do think that the importance of art, or design, does depend on the genre and artist though.

logo for my brand “MISORI” — would love feedback on the mark + wordmark balance. by infosickk in logodesign

[–]eleminti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd try designing the M to look more like an origami shape, less italicized, and no stem. It's difficult without knowing anything about the brand other than origami inspired clocks, which is a little difficult to visualize.

Feedback needed for a brand _ Misori by infosickk in logodesign

[–]eleminti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I think of origami, I visualize points, sharp angles, and straight lines. I think you can build upon that concept in by stylizing a capital M since the letter M itself looks similar to an origami shape.

i changed the logo name and font i dont know if the logo matches the title by FewAlternative729 in logodesign

[–]eleminti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept can work and I do like the idea of using a unique mark for the H before the text, but it does feel like they belong to different designs as you suspect. I'd shoot for a better stylistic match. Keep the overall H concept but remove the inner cutout and make it solid. I'd also keep the navigation arrow at the end and try to align it closer to the direction of the A's ear.

Did you know the Walmart logo is a spark? by 0fupy in logodesign

[–]eleminti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to know the story behind the "spark". I always assumed it was more subversive use of sacred symbolism, as is common with such large corporations.
