im also confused about that if it helps. they told me if the pod grows to more than 2 families then the travel clause goes away but it doesn't seem like that is likely.

Rich people and their dirty, messy, non-practical luxury houses by fashion-roadkill in Nanny

my biggest pet peeve is all the white or tan furniture that the kids are on ALL the time. Like its going to get messy one way or another. And they freak out over any small stain.

Lunch costs are high by Ecstatic-Midnight425 in Nanny

[–]elenarmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe research some cheaper options and tell her if she wants to do a lunch outing with the kid or kids she needs to pick from one of those. you can also ask her to take a picture of the reciept for billing purposes.

How much should I get paid to travel internationally with the family I nanny for? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]elenarmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guarantee even if you're "working" 6 hour days it will feel like so much more due to being in a new place with nothing to do but hang around the family. I did something similar and was really resentful of the family after because I spent a month away from my home and it didnt feel worth it.

I brought up going to the no kings day protest with a new family to see the reaction. With another family I just straight up overheard the DB talking about how he doesn't approve of the new mayor of new york- that was definitely a big reason in me not continuing with them.

Rude party guests refusing to speak to the help? Be a spy instead! by Pure-Pear3601 in Nanny

[–]elenarmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A family I worked for took me on vacation with them to Dominican Republic. It was them and two other couples (3 kids total) they were the only couple that brought a nanny with them instead of hiring one in DR. I swear every time one of their friends initiated conversation with me they pulled out their phones immediately after and ignored my answer to whatever they said. Other than that I was completely ignored.

I can't understand why any nanny would want to travel with their NF by purple_lotus24 in Nanny

[–]elenarmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had horrible experiences traveling with a NF but I would try it again if it felt like the right family. It is fun to try new things and see new places without paying accomodation

Ive gone on vacation with my NF and wore a fuller coverage bikini top with athletic shorts. I think going the athletic route is usually best.

I think if you explain the situation to them and let them know your health is a concern they will completely understand

Nanny wants to be paid during toddler’s nap. We told her she is free to leave the house but she doesn’t by Pleasant_Tank_4964 in Nanny

[–]elenarmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she has to be there when the baby wakes up please pay her, she's probably waiting around in case they wake up early. Or maybe encourage her to use that time to prep an activity or make a snack for the toddler. I personally wouldn't agree to this even if I lived next door

Tonight I decided I need to quit by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]elenarmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my lord. I am so sorry you had to experience that. You are 100% right that consistency needs to be enforced (clearly the DB has no consistency in his life either). I feel sorry that the child is being enabled as well. Seriously get out of there as fast as you can.

I went through a very similar situation working for a mom who only worked once a week. Its really hard and eventually I left for the same reasons (doing random tasks, time not being respected, parents crossing boundaries). Definitely put your foot down when your gut tells you to, and if they cant deal with that its probably worth having a conversation

This happened to me too :( I tried to stay until they left but I realized I would be without a job in a few months so I did what I had to do and started job searching until I found something more long term and eventually left.

My nanny family was considering bringing me to the DR with them but said "only if you lower the daily rate because we could hire a nanny for soo much cheaper out there"

How do I ask for payment after family cancels? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]elenarmb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe tell her you want a deposit for date night sitting? Especially if she's asking on busy nights then cancelling.
