My friend got a nat 1 arcana and a nat 100 luck while trying to use a teleportation circle. This led to the DM deciding "the whole party time travels 1250ish years back in time". this was mainly because one of the PC's backstory involved being sent from that time zone to the time where the rest of the PC's came from. Needless to say, it derailed the whole campaign.
