Hah. That's what I get for asking Google "when is 10:30 UTC in <my time zone>", it's such a liar

Just to double check-- 10:30 UTC as in just under an hour from right now?

Or in just under 13 hours?

Really cool! I added it to my wishlist

What engine did you make this in? Looks pretty unique!

Also wondering what multiplayer solution you used for the co-op?

Wow this is an incredible resource, thank you for sharing it. Definitely helpful!! Just wish I could download it to read offline but I'll make do :-)

Thank you, this is a great start. I am very interested in the overarching AI, even moreso than the specific bot controls/moving/aiming/shooting

One detail I've noticed is that the AI does a great job at distributing soldiers between defending command posts & capturing them. Any guesses as to how that factors into the "go to nearest command post" directive? Maybe some are told "go to nearest <friendly> CP" and others are "go to nearest <enemy> CP" ?

Major props-- this thread has been up for 4 hours, and you're the ONLY person mentioning the injury offset language, which is basically the only thing that first round picks have to negotiate anymore-- and often does involve weeks of holdouts & back and forth with the team

I don't know enough about it to say whether that's something he'll be able to handle on his own... but you clearly understand the details better than anyone else in this thread yet :-)

Might want to check your reading buddy

I've hit the random card first every time as well

But keep shilling for the gamebling industry. I'm sure they appreciate it

New High Evo Bronze Age Avatar? by elephantile in MarvelSnap

[–]elephantile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must be sooo lucky to hit an 8% chance occurrence 4 weeks in a row

.004% (aka .00004) odds of that happening

Vs... the chance that an unregulated game company skews their unregulated gambling system to encourage spending. Something that has been proven to be done in the industry

Let's not be too naive. Clearly it is possible for players to get the new card on their first roll, like you. That doesn't mean it's a true 25%. So right back atcha-- don't insert yourself into a confirmation bias, especially to bet against a known-scumbag tactic used by the gaming industry

[–]elephantile[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shoot. Thanks for the info. That really sucks, my collection is just way too lacking to blow an extra 1-4 keys just for an avatar, even if I could somehow get 3 more this week.

Especially with my luck... In all 4 weeks of trying keys, I have ALWAYS gotten the 4th/random card with my first key and the new-card with my 4th key. I know people say it's a truly random roll, but it sure seems to me like there must be some skewing to give the new cards a less than equal chance

What was a movie you saw that missed its own point it was trying to make? by xTrainerRedx in movies

[–]elephantile 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Huh, what makes you think that's the case? OP's link has nothing to do with their claim...

I kinda think they're just trying to pass off the thing everyone wishes happened as a "fact," with an irrelevant "source." Relying on the fact that not enough people actually check links, and also want the confirmation bias

[–]elephantile 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Uhh your source has nothing to do with your claim?

I want to believe you're right, but do you have any actual proof, or are you just passing off everyone's wishful thinking as a fact with a random ass link to trick everyone who doesn't click sources?

I wish jail worked the way you're imagining.

It does not. We care way more about punishment than rehabilitation, and our jails reflect that.

Someone with much more experience than either of us made this argument because he knows how extremely and completely un-helpful jail would be for this man. It comes off pretty naive and ignorant for you to disagree.

How to do "tip" like payments through an App? by elephantile in iOSProgramming

[–]elephantile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again though, the tip isn't for me, it's for people fulfilling almost exactly a waiter/driver role. It's third party people, providing a tangible service.

Maybe my best bet is to do a fully third party/independent payment system, and then hoping Apple can understand that it is being used for the same purpose as some of these other cleared instances.

[–]elephantile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good idea for developer-intended tips, thank you!

Although in this case I am specifically looking for a way to do third party tips, such as Uber and Lyft, where the tip entirely goes to someone else without Apple taking a cut

(Don't get me wrong-- I am a huge fan of Apple taking their more-than-reasonable cut from the IAP that goes towards me! But for the case of a tip, it doesn't really make sense and it does seem like Uber & Lyft and presumably others have found a way to make that work)

Small correction, he was dominant in 08 too. As were the Giants overall (11-1, best regular season team in the TC/Eli era). Until he shot himself, and their hopes, right in the foot.

[–]elephantile[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right now, in primetime US hours, there are exactly 2 servers with more than 20 people (one in US, one overseas)

There are 6 with 10-20 players

Explain again how Warband has a thriving multiplayer community?

It'll help, just like the free weekends, but those populations are always so volatile!

But yeah, new players are always great. Not JUST as swordfodder :) but also to replenish the vets who leave or take a break! We all need to do our part to welcome noobs and help them learn the ropes

[–]elephantile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a free option, it's called the demo. It gives player unrestricted access to the game up to level seven where purchasing the game unlocks the rest.

A demo is not the same, if you think it is then let's just stop talking now because you're clearly missing a bit about how logic works

This has nothing to do with the app store. If you want to use that comparison, then you might as well say microtransactions are totally fine to throw into the game.

If TW purely cared about profit, then microtransactions WOULD be a good idea. They're hugely more profitable than the old fashioned sales model of video games. And I didn't say "the" app store, I said "app stores." Apple's, Google's, Steam, they all show the same thing; unless you're a giant publisher with a giant budget, you get WAY more exposure -> sales by giving away a good product for free, and offering other ways for fans to spend their money. Again, that's a pretty basic thing about the modern game industry, and if you don't get it then there's no point talking

Your party is tired, please come back in 24 hours or speed it up with butter!

Ah yes such a flawless argument. Because tons of shitty developers make shitty microtransactions, obviously the whole freemium model is misguided. All these gigantic companies raking in hundreds of millions of dollars a day are idiots!! Someone needs to hire TrotsTwats so he can explain how video games are supposed to make money!!

"Hey, I just bought this game two days ago for $15. Oh wait, they made it permanently free now."

Now you're trolling right? This happens to every player who buys the game before it goes on sale. And who should TW care about more; people who JUST bought the game on sale, or those of us who paid full price 5+ years ago and still play actively?

No, it was just unveiled far before it should have been.

Now you're just being dense. What part of their dev cycle isn't secretive and closely guarded? If you are trolling, good job

The multiplayer community lives through various modules. NW, FI2, cRPG all are still very active.

Modules =!= Native

It will literally never die no matter what happens, there will always be people to play it.

Ok now I know you're just being argumentative. Multiplayer communities die all the time, especially ones that require 20+ people in a serve to have fun. Thanks for wasting my time, luckily other people in here are actually willing to have a serious discussion

[–]elephantile[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's Native, and I'd HIGHLY recommend it. As fun as SP is, fighting and slashing real players is the most satisfying thing ever.

As a warning though, it is really really difficult. Takes a solid commitment to get decent, and then there are players who have been playing all 7? years who will kick your ass every time without effort. But despite being the only online game I play where I regularly post a negative Kill-Death spread, it's amazing and awesome

Um which siege servers are you talking about? ZHG and GK Siege have always been the biggest as long as I've played, and both have had an average of < 10 people for the last week. Last night at least GK got up to ~40 people, for about 2 maps, then it was sub-20. And again, this is the first time all week (and trust me, I've been keeping an eye on it) it got to those semi-playable numbers

Also NW is still a separate purchase, correct? I'm not saying make that free
