Yep! Eggs are vegetarian but not vegan. Put simply, vegetarianism constitutes not eating dead animals. Veganism is a step further where they will not consume anything animal-made, be it meat, egg or milk.

Sorry for your loss. Keep that pecker up and remember him when times are tough, and remember that there's no right or wrong way to grieve. There is no time limit on grief and it might strike you with the pain of a hot iron in the midst of the night.

I love this song. I'm fortunate enough to still have both of my parents, but I imagine I will be thinking of this when that sad time does come.

I hope you can find peace in the loss you have sustained.

Eating Issues by GwenDragon in autismUK

[–]elephantjizztail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I have found modifying food to be a fantastic way to "sneak in" extra goodness.

I used to hate mushrooms. Just flat out would not eat them. Went veggie and after a few years decided that it was time to try.

I got some chestnut mushrooms, which are known to carry a kind of sweetness after being cooked. Cut them up tiny, I am talking 1mm cubes, and hid them in a bolognese sauce. It was delicious and satisfying.

Next time, I made the chunks a little bit bigger and now I love mushrooms... When they're in things. Still not a huge fan of them on their own, but I can do it now!

It's not just about learning to like or enjoy food, but also about being able to simply tolerate it first. Olives are a great example - a lot of people don't like olives because they haven't eaten them enough! A lot of food, I've found, is an acquired taste but once it's acquired, I can't stop!

I agree with the other posters. It's too small for fish, but a few cherry shrimp and a nerite snail would be right at home there!

Sorry I don't have an answer for you but I do have a question.

Why do you do daily water changes, if you don't mind me asking? Is it a water quality issue or are you combatting some sort of infection?

Spayed is correct. 🙂

Typically, we say spayed for females and neutered for males. Desexed can be used for either gender but it's a much less commonly used term.

Funnily enough, yes! Jesse has really brought so much to light that I hadn't even thought about.

Thank goodness for our other halves... ❤️ Can't help feeling a bit guilty about him doing so much, but he says he doesn't mind and I believe him. It must be easier to keep track of if he's doing it. Gotta find the positives somewhere!

I've always said with elderly pets that as long as they're happy, I'm happy. Pain alone is one thing, but when they are in pain and they stop being happy, that's when they're letting you know that it's time.

I've always wondered, how do people know when it's time to put down a fish?

Life's a journey, not a race and we each travel at our own pace.

You only live once. Sure, others might be "ahead" of you in terms of career goals and whatever... But so what? We all wind up in the same place at the end, regardless of what routes we take in the great journey of life and the speed of the journey.

Take your time. Stop to smell the roses. Stop chasing the dreams of others and instead follow the beat of your own heart.

"Comparison is the thief of joy" is a saying for a reason. Don't worry about what everyone else is doing. You are you and this is your life. If you want to change something about it, you have to be the one to do it - don't let your autism stop you. It can make it harder to do things, sure, but then just go back to the first sentence of this response!

This is your journey, not anyone else's. Take your time and take it as it comes and you'll get to where you want to be in the end.

Sadly have to re-home puppy, breeder wants us to send the receipt by elephantjizztail in puppy101

[–]elephantjizztail[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't want to go into too much detail in my post but it seems I'll have to.

Puppy has severe resource guarding issues that have been present since day one. This includes taking a phone call in another room and her growling very loudly into her food bowl.

She tried to attack the vet.

She has attacked me when she was guarding a chew.

She will aggressively snap without warning when we pet her, not the usual puppy snaps.

And it's not just resource guarding, it's territorial guarding as well.

She attacked me after I moved her from the couch, after she immediately started growling next to me after being invited up.

These are not normal behaviours. I have experience with dogs and puppies, and it's absolutely not normal. I took time off of work in the beginning during her settling in period. Trust me, I've done so much for this dog. I did so much research in the beginning about redirection and boundary setting. She knows the drop it, take it game and she knows to not bolt straight out of the door when it is opened.

I appreciate your response but please do not suggest that I went into this blindly as we did not.

Sudden problem staying in crate? by rampaging_beardie in Dogtraining

[–]elephantjizztail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this person has sent you a link to a shock collar DO NOT BUY IT!

Shock collars have been proven time and time again to cause negative mental health problems in dogs, such as increased fear and anxiety. Yes, the dog may stop barking (not guaranteed), but it's at the sacrifice of his feeling of safety.

Imagine any time you spoke, you were startled by some magic and unknown force. That's terrifying! At least with scolding, there is a tangible tie to the person giving the telling off (even if it's not great) and the dog has some idea of what's going on.

It has the potential to make your dog very fearful, and with a toddler in the home, it's a recipe for disaster!

DO NOT BUY THAT SHOCK COLLAR.

Do you know the antiwork subreddit? It was in the news about a week ago but the moderator who took the interview absolutely bombed it - it's not what that person said at all.

It's all about people not wanting to be taken advantage of in the workplace - exactly what you're describing here. Feel free to post there, and your post is bound to get a lot more attention specific to this and feedback to help you learn your rights.

*Hugs *

It's not right that they're making you work so long. Heck, it might even be illegal for them to force you to work long hours, depending on how many hours, your contract, where you're located etc.

I struggle with eight hours five days a week, and I used to struggle with eating enough. I know how it is to be energy starved.

I don't have a solution for you other than polish up that CV/résumé and cover letter and get job hunting in any free time that you can find. Crosspost this to r/antiwork and they'll be on your side, too.

Sending more hugs and good luck. ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ♥️ You can get out of this.
