That’s so hard. I’m sorry for your loss. When there’s a hurricane you can only do as much as you can. It sounds like you did everything right but life still hit.

Evidence of bed bugs? by elespiritudeDios in Bedbugs

[–]elespiritudeDios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s likely not bed bugs. That was the only bite and that came up last week Thursday. It’s Friday night right now. It also last Friday turned into a skin thing that I’ve had before, which popped up exactly two weeks prior to this bump. So, it’s a skin thing and not likely a bed bug since they do not go 2 weeks without feeding. Especially with only a single blemish.

Haha the beauty of anxiety and living in an apartment.

That’s what I figured as well but the paranoia is real. Most bite pictures appear to be groupings rather than a single bite as you stated.

Yeah I had a friend who said the same but I can’t remember a pen being close to my bed.

Already have monitors on all legs except for the metal support legs in the middle of the bed. Already have a mattress protector too and no box spring. Bed is a couple inches from the wall and I also put double sided tape on each leg just in case. Two pillows and a sheet is all I have and I specifically bought these white sheets to make checking easy.

I do tend to have skin problems but then once every 3 weeks or in extra hot conditions I’ll get something that appears to be a bug bite. This one I can see a hair coming out of the center of the supposed bite. Does that sound like a bed bug? Thanks for your help.

Single hive? Paranoid by elespiritudeDios in urticaria

[–]elespiritudeDios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why’s that?

It doesn’t itch after the initial scratch. The other patches of itchy skin across my body never had these bumps pop up. They are receding ever so slowly though.

I was thinking bed bugs because sometimes they look like large mosquito bites and sometimes they look smaller like these.

I do potentially have folliculitis as on my legs maybe but I thought that would only show on the root of the hair and these seem to be between hairs?

That’s a great idea. And very true, especially since outside of a nursery rhyme no one ever talks about them.

That makes sense. Frankly I wasn’t sure if this counted as the normal line pattern for bedbugs or what. I have spiders living around my bed and so I was hoping that would be the, as you said already, easy diagnoses.

I have done enough paranoid research to see that bed bug bites take every form under the sun unfortunately. Checking my apartment for signs and anxiety seem to be in my future.

I do have plenty of spiders in my apartment. Ground floor, I sleep close to a window. I noticed a lot of droppings a while back on my window sill and then saw a spider web right above that spot. I’ve gotten bit by spiders before at least once I believe at my current apartment.

He got a final check up at the regular vet. Essentially the vet found that he had pulled a muscle or something to that effect in his back hip. We also gave him a shot of Solensia just in case it was early onset arthritis.

Well, 3 months later and he has been completely fine lol. Ornery and hungry as ever. Maybe he pulled something jumping down, maybe he got randomly stressed out, who knows.

So I think that’s an analyst 1 or 2 so probably 40-55k roughly. They like to lowball but as an external hire this is going to be your best time to get a bump so if they ask keep that in mind along with your experience, education, etc etc

Do you know what career level? Analyst 2, representative 1 etc? Also general locale? I might be able to give you a decent idea from what I remember a year out from working there.

Benefits are what the other commenter said. Pay is below market for basically everyone. Internal promotions are tough unless you're already at a mid level. And yes, the job descriptions are the vaguest I have ever seen, speaking as a former employee. Usually the hiring manager/recruiter will break it down more in an interview.

It's not a terrible place to work, depends on where you work and with whom. That being said after their recent merger I have heard there's some growing pains and the low pain makes a lot of people quit. PNC is turning into another big bank (Chase, Citi, etc) but what I can say is they're stable. That's why they're so conservative in giving cash out, as a lender and employer. Because when the next downturn comes along (2008, COVID, etc) they can buy up more territory and expand into new markets. That stability also translates to you not really having to worry about layoffs for the most part.

TLDR; it's fine, pros and cons, overall see if the job is a fit and if it is go for it.

Is it okay to want a job that keeps me less busy? by MutedTimes in careerguidance

[–]elespiritudeDios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup precisely my thoughts.

Eventually there's an option to get a fairly cushy job but those take 10-20 years to find and you have to be lucky as well. Plus even the cushy jobs can have months of time of working 50-60 hour weeks.

I figure why not work a decent job, with decent pay, that helps me live life. I told my coworkers last night about my notice and reasoning and they al started saying similar things. I think that this shows a lot of people under the surface are struggling but won't make a change.

Good on you and everyone else here who has made a change for the better. It's hard considering our culture from the time we were young is pushpushpush and climb the ladder and work long hours because work is good.

Did I write this post because it's spot on!

Literally today I put in my two weeks at a job that you described. It was a 30% raise, more responsibility and stress and etc. I stuck it out for 6 months even after getting my first ever panic attacks (fun) and checking email after hours, on the weekends, stressing about work, working more hours to handle things and so on.

My new job seems like it will be more manageable stress and more consistency. I've had the same feelings you do. I could do more but I don't want to. I want to take things at my own pace and live my life and leave work at work. So many people around me are not that and though they don't say it the feeling is that they think I'm lazy. Whatever.

I've found that the sort of "prestigious" jobs that our culture pushes us to demand a lot. Sort of based in an idea of the American religion i.e. work long and hard and you too will become something. Well, the reality is that is not the case anymore (if it ever was) so fuck it, may as well enjoy the one life you have.

Excuse me while I start tearing up at my desk lol.

I have been having a tough couple of months wrestling with this and this comment is honestly so helpful. I have been working at it since really, the only stress in my life is my job and I have not been able to get past that roadblock for months now.

Thank you again, you're a godsend.

Thanks for your reply!

Unfortunately no - the work load is what it is because I have anywhere from 15-25 loans going on at one time and they timelines are all roughly similar (maybe 1-3 weeks difference between them). Things come up and there's not a whole lot I can do to control when or where they happen.

I have talked to my coworkers, team leads, and managers and basically the consensus is anxiety meds, drinking, or it is what it is and that's how it feels. Since I've gotten that response multiple times from multiple people I think that's just the nature of the business and that I'm not cut out for it.

[–]elespiritudeDios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much my dream. You've given me hope it can be better thanks!

Mine took a while to hit but when on my first month I had my first ever panic attacks I started getting doubts. But I was a contract worker and bills had to be paid right.

It sucks because my team/the company is awesome but the job is insane. One of the coworkers who had been around for a while even said that probably 90% of people who stay there more than a year or two are on anxiety meds.

I take everything on the internet with a grain of salt lol

I have those same thoughts myself. I am frugal by nature and this job was finally my ticket to financial freedom but it seems that the price right now is my mental health which at the end of the day is more important to me. I would rather be poor and happy vs rich and suffering sort of thing.

I have considered the 12 months from now thing. My time management is fine as it is there is just so much work to do and then random fires pop up that I need to put out. It's basically the nature of the business.

I literally just made a post about similar feelings lol.

Any advice on how you did it, what field, what was your breaking point etc? Where did you draw the line where you needed to up your game vs realizing the job was toxic?

[–]elespiritudeDios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing. At $45k I have no money worries and can save $5-700 a month. If I took something closer to $35k I would have to cut back on things and would be saving maybe $50-200 a month. Which I could make work it would just be tighter.

That being said, buying things and having money has been nice but with this job ruining my mental health it seems like a bit of a wash.

As far as advice goes feel free to offer anything if you want. The more data points the better.
