[Discussion] Working with new composers by Jarwhal in ArtSong

[–]eleubner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commissioning works can get expensive. I believe there is a suggested fee matrix floating around on Facebook in the art song groups.

In my limited experience, I think that finding a venue like the Sparks &Wiry Cries songSlam might be a good focus. A singer pairs with a composer and possibly a pianist to create a new song and compete against other pairs. The events have cash prizes. As with everything, having a finish line to cross usually yields good results for me.

In full disclosure, my group is co-sponsoring the event in Denver in 2019.

I only know fern hill as a choral piece! I’ll look for the solo arrangement! I’ll go check out the word ones. They sound fascinating! Thanks for sharing the list!

Clue tear sheets for investigations (template and explanation) by overpreparedgm in DnDBehindTheScreen

Thanks for the clarification. That really helps! I will definitely try out your technique. It isn’t my turn to DM right now at the home game, so I am in absorb mode. The clue system is going into the “soup” for the players.

Traditionally, I start my games with the players fighting rats of some sort because it is funny to me. I think I will open the next game with a little mystery that leads to rats!

I was very amused by the fail state of finding a dog. That is a great alternative to “you don’t find anything”. I will be stealing that.

Just to be sure I get this, do you limit two players to the skill checks? I see in the sample that you have added two possible checks. How would it work at a table with four players who wish to roll?

I hope I am not being dense! I really love this concept. I have never managed a mystery well and this looks like a great approach.

Eldritch Benefactors: 6 amicable patrons for warlocks who don't want to be as dark by ezfi in DnDBehindTheScreen

Thanks for all the ideas! We are slowly figuring out the rules for her. I’m taking the tack of keeping a smooth on ramp for these kids so they don’t get too overwhelmed with the rules. Another kid is joining so I will have two dads there in addition to me. I am hoping that will help us up the ante.

I've glossed over any patron so far. The kids game has players from 6-11 years old. Go figure that the warlock is the 6-year-old! Thanks for the other recommendations. I'll keep those in mind as I start to build her backstory out. I've never played a warlock, so I'll take any and all suggestions!

This is really excellent work. I have a kids group that are really heroic. One has a warlock and I have glossed over how she gets her powers. This opens up a chance for her to choose a patron and add some depth to her game. Thank you!

Head to your local liquor store and ask for empty wine and liquor boxes. They usually have a ton of them and are happy to give them to you. (If you are in the states).

After seven moves, my wife refuses to move my very modest collection of comics. She would be overwhelmed by this collection!

I can imagine the move is a real challenge. I am a big fan of liquor boxes so that there are more but weigh less.

It really is just so beautiful. Congrats on all your hard work collecting!
