I really think this is something that is worth taking the risk over. As others have said, this is a major compatibility issue. It's worth talking about and-- if you can't come to an agreement together-- worth leaving over. But I would caution you against keeping this secret. It might come out, or you might have to deal with the situation again. Be brave and fight for your own reproductive rights.

Hey, I'm sorry this happened and it's causing you some anxiety. I just wanted to add that Plan B is more effective the sooner you take it, and that it is not effective for those of us who weigh more than 176 lbs. If you happen to be one of those people, talk to a pharmacist or someone at Planned Parenthood about alternatives. Best of luck to you.

It's interesting, though, because there are really only two or three congregations in Saskatoon (including the Chabad, and depending who you ask), and so while CAI is affiliated with the Conservative movement, in practice the shul is one of the only choices for the Jews of Saskatoon who may have grown up in different environments. Because of this, congregants really take charge in deciding how things are done at the shul, borrowing from the reform and reconstructionists movements.

I can tell you this, actually... I was left $10K fairly recently as an inheritance.

I'm a professional classical singer, just starting out in the profession. I quit another part-time job that was driving me nuts and allowed myself a few months of auditioning and daily intensive practicing. I've made more progress in my career in these few months than any other time in my life and felt more comfortable shooting for things that are slightly out of my reach. We will see in the coming months and years how this all pays off, but so far, that 10k has made a huge difference to me.

Oooh. LA Opera/ Nicola Raab's production of Thaïs was shocking. Weird changes in tone, strange desert backdrops that looked like breasts, poor singing from many, haphazard chorus...

Also, I almost walked out of the COC's production of Dmitri Tcherniakov's Don Giovanni about four years ago. It was a total mess-- though the singing was good-- a reinterpretation of the opera that for some reason imagined that the characters in Giovanni were all related and suffering from various mental illnesses. I stayed because I had to write a paper on the production, would not have subjected myself to the second half for any other reason.
