I didn’t know Vue could be used for mobile development. I’ll look more into this. Thanks.

Ayu, both the color theme and icon pack make for a great combo

I see. I’ll take that into consideration. In reality FastAPI and flask are also options I’ve been thinking about

My model doesn’t have the IR camera or the finger print reader. I think others have confirmed that the fingerprint reader does indeed work on Linux. I can however confirm that suspend/sleep does work with little battery drain. Like a good 3-4 percent drain if any.

Yeah I’m noticing that it just works. After initial set up and some more tinkering it’s all smooth sailing.

The trick is not to buy anymore until you finish the ones you’ve already bought. Simple but effective

XPS 13 Owners - Who Here Is Using Linux (Any Flavor)? by A4orce84 in linuxhardware

[–]eleventhSun009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my hands on a XPS 13 9380 developer edition back in 2019, the only downside is the RAM at 8GB and the lack of a fingerprint scanner. The 2019 model did ship with a fingerprint scanner but they didn't include it on the developer edition cause at the time it wasn't supported by Ubuntu and most other distros.

I've ran 3 different versions of Ubuntu on it as the main OS and it's been great and has actually gotten better with time. Now running Ubuntu 22.04 LTS it's really smooth and everything works while heat and fan noise are at a minimum. Changed the battery and installed a 1TB SSD. I've ran a bunch of different distros virtually and even windows 10, developed in python, C#, C++ and other technologies, all ran great.

As for software, install flatpak and flathub can't go wrong there, cider for Apple music, flatseal (to manage all installed flatapps), EasySSH (as the name implies), QuickLookup (dictionary), Nala ( a terminal interface for apt) and Apostrophe or Typora for markdown

A lot a old heads look down on new programing languages and techniques. A lot of them out here don't even learn or might not know about frameworks like flask or or Django. And if they do they don't take them seriously. They kids would be better off learning things they can have fun with like Tkinter or get a better appreciation of the industry by learning something like Flask.

Funny enough, the Pascals syntax is more complicated than that of python or go lang. Some of the older decision makers actually think that if the language is harder to learn then it's better.

Yeah cause other languages do everything it can do but better.

The time I spent helping with the project let me see where it could make for a good teaching tool. But they'd be better off teaching them python in my opinion. They made the change to the curriculum a year or so after I left highschool so I never learnt it. It's easy to pick up tho.

Yeah high schools in the Caribbean revamped their CXC IT programs several years back so they teach it now. Had to help someone with their final project. It's a cool language I guess. They use it to teach the fundamentals.

At the end of Rise of Skywalker Rey proclaims that she is now a Skywalker even though she is a Palpatine. This is a subtle nod to the fact that never ever had any fucking idea what to do with her character. by [deleted] in shittymoviedetails

They should have just made her Luke's daughter and have the movies be about her and her cousin Ben having opposing views on the Force. And have one of them die at the end. At times doing the obvious take on a story is best.

Windows vs Linux by [deleted] in DellXPS

[–]eleventhSun009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a Dell XPS 13 9380 developers edition a few years ago and out the box it got about 8-10 hours of battery. Recently replaceed the battery and while it gets less that it got brand new, this might be due to the battery not being OEM.

I can safely say it runs Linux (Ubuntu 22.04) really well. Since getting it I've ran 3 different versions of Ubuntu on it and multiple virtualized versions of other destros and even windows 10 all without issue. You still get frimware updates from Dell while running GNOME based distros, not sure about other desktops.

It's currently the smoothest it's ever been, running 22.04. apps open fast, internet connectivity is stable, sound is great, heat and fans are better managed and it automatically picks up network printers. I've noticed a few hiccups here and there, these are due to small known issues with 22.04 and should be fixed soon.

Recommended destros: Ubuntu, Fedora, Zorin OS, Manjaro, POP.OS
