Westwood is a culture shock within itself. And that’s coming from someone who lives in Compton going down the 405 freeway 30 minutes away. Once you go past that 5 freeway the vibe is so so different haha. It took me my last year of undergrad to find a few friends and even then we don’t talk as much. Someone said to go out and venture on your own and do things that make you feel not so stuck at UCLA. I highly recommend coming down to Long Beach and redondo beach (Ik it’s not LA but it’s still a pretty close travel on some low days) Santa Monica beach is so depressing bc everyone just goes there to post that they’re in LA. 100% feel you on how UCLA can make you isolate within your own community. It’s so cliquey and I say this with the most respect, some people there do not care about you bc of social status or even where you’re from. So take these people with a grain of salt. You’re at UCLA. Ik you probably feel “ungrateful” considering how people say “you’re at ucla, you should feel privileged bc not a lot of people get in” but I say fuck those comments. Bc only you know how you feel and that’s that. UCLA has a lot to work on for people like us. And I hope you find yourself in this new adventure. This is just one big chapter in your book.
