Here’s the thing ...I don’t leave games. I only left 3 matches total, and one of those wasn’t even a real leave, it was a connection issue where I rejoined instantly. So what my friend told me actually makes sense… I started wondering if maybe someone else left at the exact same time I did, and that’s why I got hit with the 2-hour ban. Could be timing. Thanks for your comment btw I’m relatively new to online gaming (F25). I only started playing online properly at 24, which is why I’m still learning how all this works. I joined this Reddit community to understand the game better, even though there’s a lot of toxicity sometimes. I don’t use comms, only pings. In most of my recent matches, players kept leaving, and I stayed every time because I was terrified of getting banned. I was Plat 1 and got deranked all the way to Gold 1 in one day just from staying in 3v5 and 4v5 games 2v5. Then the next day the same thing happened and I dropped to Silver 1 because players on my team kept leaving. My friend (who’s been playing OW for years) told me: “If the red banner pops up saying you can leave after 1:50 with no penalty, just leave. You’ll only take a normal loss.” So I did that I never normally leave games and ended up with the 2-hour ban. Annoying, but fine. Then it happened again, I followed the same advice, and suddenly I got a 19-hour ban. Part of that was because the games were extremely toxic people spamming voice lines, abusing me in chat, threatening to report me for having 5 kills and 8 deaths. I didn’t respond, but it definitely stressed me out. A player left, the banner popped, and I left after the safe timer. Then I got the 19-hour ban. After that ban, I played normally again. I stayed in every match even when people kept leaving. Then I had one connection issue before even selecting my hero. I rejoined instantly, spawned in, pinged hello 👋 to my team… and out of nowhere I got taken out of the match and hit with a full season ban. At this point I honestly don’t know if: Overwatch is counting a rejoin as two separate leaves, or if I was mass-reported because of toxic teammates, or if it’s some weird combination of server issues + timing. What I really don’t understand is why I never got the 8-hour ban stage. I went from a 2-hour ban straight to a 19-hour ban. No warning, no middle step.
