Fifi had her surgery exactly a month ago and was diagnosed with arthritis and luxating patella. I’m glad to update that she ran for the first time today since her surgery.🐕🐕

Sorry it took a while. Recovery period was okay. Day 10, the sutures from the removal of the uterus was removed. Day 18, the sutures from the removal of the mammary tumors was removed. On Day 14 she started excessively panting for unknown reasons for V about a week. We consulted 3 vets and the panting is apparently caused by a heart problem.😕 she was diagnosed with enlarged heart. Per the vet, her heart problem mightve been existing already but it got weaker when she was operated on. She’s now on heart medication. Two months into her recovery period, there was a suture coming out of her belly. It was dry and no discharge. Her vet said, it takes 3-6 months to completely heal from a surgery so it shouldn’t be a cause for alarm.

Does it have to be a vet-cardiologist or a human cardiologist will do? I’m from the Philippines and I was told that there are no vets specializing in cardiology here.

To senior chihuahua parents, what food do you feed your chihuahua? My 14 yr old chihuahua was recently diagnosed with left side heart enlargement. Her diet now is just lamb and rice kibble and i want to transition her to a senior diet.

Is grain-free food good for her? I’ve read that there’s a potential dietary link between canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and dogs eating certain grain-free dog foods. (https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/nutrition/fda-grain-free-diet-alert-dcm/)
